Adding a little heat capacity. Mech fan with blue fan clutch. She'll chooch once the shroud is finished.

Last year I shared a site with a buddy. Whenever General Golf Cart would swing by and ask about my hang tag, I’d divert, I’d give him my buddy’s name, etc. I wouldn’t count on it working again, but … the guy was busy and didn’t look too hard at the situation.

Well had to make a last minute decision and looks like I'll be driving my 60 from Alabama instead of my 70 series from Arizona. It has a laundry list of nuisance things I need to take care of before a long journey but none of them should be deal breakers. I'm going to try to get to Casey's Friday mid day to join the convoy.

Any of you bama folks heading through DFW? We are heading out Friday morning to hit Casey’s place by early afternoon.

Surely there’s folks that have done the trip from Austin to Amarillo before. Is there a preferred route for a 37 year old slow ass truck? Thinking about scenery, gas station frequency, places to pull off if you want to obsessively check your fluid levels…

Gave my site back to KOA today. If anyone still needs one it should show up pretty soon.

So the shop I use at my base is closed for renovations. Serves me right for procrastinating. Just doing some basic look overs, alignment, and tire rotation. So I get to work out of my garage. The 61 has served me well over the years so it will get a good amount of TLC after this trip and probably sit out next year.

One more week to go!!!

For those of you who are attending SAS for the first time and require an agenda this is it.
We keep it as loosely organized as possible since we are on vacation.
Sunday, arrive at camp, set up and meet your neighbors if you don't already know them. Go fuel your rig so you don't have to the next morning. You don't want to be "that guy".
Monday morning is checkin at the main camp. We provide coffee so when you hear the generator fire up around 7 give us a little bit for coffee to brew.
There will be a short announcement and a board to see what trails are being led for the day.
Tuesday through Friday morning will begin the same way.
Plan on taking snacks/ food and drinks with you out on the trail. Most of our led trails will have a stop in either Telluride, Silverton, Lake City, Ridgeway or Ouray.
There are restaurants and a grocery store in Ouray as well as Ridgeway a short drive up 550.
Wednesday evening will be the group photo and raffle.
Other than that you can do as much or as little as you like.
I hope everyone is excited about this year as I am. Times a ticking and I look forward to seeing yall in a little over a week now.
Casey...
Thanks for posting this for us newbies! I’ll be rolling in mid day Monday, looking forward to the trip!

CD I need to go through Dallas at some point to swing by Joe‘s place but it would make more sense to do that on my way home in September.

Electric fan to mech fan comparison...no comparison. Engine temps aren't different but AC vent temps are 8*F cooler for the same vehicle speed. Oklahoma just got more comfy.

Good you did that. World of a difference.

Maureen unexpectedly had to go out of town. New plan as Follows:

A) I will still leave Ca. Friday 7/29. Drive to & overnight in Salina, Ut.
B) Saturday 7/30 Maureen will board a plane in Houston & fly to Grand Junction, Co.
C) Our planned route has me driving thru Grand Junction anyway. Will pick her up for the roughly 2 hour drive to Ouray KOA.

Today replaced the bottom radiator hose, added coolant AND burped the system of air. A job I hate. Just returned from a test run.

Triple digits here today. 13 mile hill with 6% to 8% grades. Almost the entire way 2nd gear. PASSED THE TEST.😅🎯😅

Holy heck, this grasshoppers feeling the time getting close and focusing on must haves vs like to do. I’m super excited to see everyone after a two year hiatus and to meet all the first timers. We got three vehicles coming from Seattle this year.

Here’s how the 62 is sitting and patiently waiting for the trip.

Well....Roddy McBenderton is alive. We made it the round trip to town to fill it up with fresh fuel.
I think my suspicions about the driveshaft guys not balancing it are confirmed. And wow 4.88s are a little much of a good thing now.

Well ran Gossamer into work today. At 75 down the interstate it had 50 psi for oil pressure, 700 EGTs, and 10 psi for boost. Happy with those numbers.
