Awesome you found a 2F. I hope it works out well for you and I look forward to regular progress updates! I'm dropping my transmission and transfer case this winter and I'm so torn because I really want to update it to a 2F/4 speed but it's not in the budget right now. Maybe some day!
I would like to do the 4 on the column mod one day. I just think the column shift is so cool.

I want to joint the cool kids! Honestly I will probably start looking for a 4 speed once I get my engine stuff all squared away. might be another year though. I am using all 4 speed clutch, fork and flywheel stuff for when I move back to the 2f engine. would just be finding a 4speed bell and the trans. and of course the top plate.

Excellent pics as usual! Looking forward to the 2f progress, sounds like my kind of shenanigans.

"A special thank you for not cutting into that dash"
sincerely, everyone with a cut radio slot.:bang:

Thanks! That drives me nuts too! My 40 had so many flippin holes cut into from cb antennas and other things. Spent way to much time welding up holes other people drilled in mine to cut another hole where its not suppost to be.

I purchased those spector off road speaker holder things for the corners near the kick vents too. Just because it seemed to be the least intrusive for speakers.

The 2f will be fun to do. Especially since I can take my time and do it right.

And, it’s a pretty good “anti-theft” tool as well…

Carburetors, choke, and manual transmission = good anti-theft material anywhere it gets cold. These things are cold blooded.

I got those SOR speaker brackets. They are ok/fine. I didn’t drill holes to secure. Just used 12 lb 3m strips. Holding well.

I might have a bead on a 4speed bell etc. think I saw a few yesterday. Send me a PM and I can connect you if you want

Thus starts the Engine Build part of the Salt wagon saga. I found an engine from a mud Member on here named @Comet Worked out perfectly he lives where my wifes family is for Christmas so on the way up to Roanoke Virginia i stopped and purchased a 2f engine! it was pretty fun getting it we pulled it from a fj40 that he is planning on putting a 1fz in. I was told the engine came out of a fj55. I have no way to confirm this though. The best part is I got a 4speed transmission and transfercase attached to it at the same. I also Picked up a radiator and fan shroud too. witch is something I knew i would need.

More to come after Christmas!

I think Really the only thing I need is an oil cooler plug wires, starter and fuel pump. and I think I could actually fire it up haha. Seems to be in good shape.

Thats an awesome way to pick up everything you need. If you would have told me there's an FJ in a shed behind the Starbucks I wouldn't have believed you. Since you're in Roanoke, I recommend Sweet Donkey for delicious coffee btw.

Yeah worked out perfectly and my thoughts exactly! We actually go to the sweet donkey every time we are up here. We went there yesterday actually saw a nice fj62 drive by while sitting out front of the coffee shop. Are you from Roanoke? I would say lets meet up but we are heading out this morning to go to my family in Burlington NC. then back to Ocracoke on the 26th. If anybody sees a red regular cab silverado with a 2f in the back driving down the road its me.

@Roastchestnuts it was nice to meet you both. I sincerely hope that everything turns out well with the engine tear down. Leet me know if I can be of further help with missing and or messed up parts. The 55 statement was made on what I was told about the engine. Run the serial number on the side to verify. I am sure there is a resource somewhere…..MUD!!
