It is my first time doing this so be aware 😁. Following a well paved path helps. Glad others have led the way. Plan on chipping at this so it keeps getting done. Excited to refresh the engine next. Do you have a build thread?
Not yet. My build is still in the staring at it with beer-in-hand phase. I've had an '85 FJ60 sitting for several years waiting for its turn. I just recently picked up a dirt-cheap '94 donor FZJ80 so now it's time to start stripping them both down to see how I want to do things. I'm trying to decide if I want to power it with a 1HZ/R151 manual or a 1HD-FTE with a A343F auto.

Been a busy week! Glad to be back on this. A little “transfer punch” action using butcher paper and pencil lead. Need to drill the 4x4 labs bumper to fit the bottom hitch holes. Anchored in 4 places per side. 2 through sleeved dom and 2 from bottom. Sleeved will get two of the CAD bolts 5/8” grade 8. Bottom bolts are also pretty stout. Weak link is my “welds”. Will transfer this to the bumper.

Got a three jerry can holder for one of the swing arms. Going to fit a Honda Generator and water can. Fuel tank is plenty big. May need to help some Teslas on the trail.

Teardown of the engine has begun. Full seal refresh and new headgaskets, water pump/ thermostat, starter, alternator, PS pump, muscle car oil pan and pick up tube, hooker headers, new coil packs, all new sensors, new fan clutch/ fan, new lifters/ stem seals, idler and tensioner pulleys. Cam will be stock. Going AC Delco for most things.

Experimenting with using an Escalade cladding for the intake

I sell GM parts too if you’d like a quote :)
I would skip those plug wires and alternator in favor of OE

Thanks Matt. Easy to change later if needed. Bought and will get used.

Did a bit more today. Like black on gray

Took my core 4L60 in to get rebuilt to 4L65, Kevlar band, Corvette Servo, HD clutch packs, new solenoids, solenoid harness, hardened sunshield, etc.

Place called Bolt On Motors in South Dallas. Rudy has been running this place for 30 years. He is trustworthy and knows what he is doing. Good place for our swap needs. I got my engine from him as well.

Got some more accessories on. Also been researching on wire harness choice. Going GM stock harness thinned down, much cheaper than going with PSI. Bought a solid harness that matched my motor. It came with a few bits that made the harness virtually free ( TAC module, AFM sensor, injectors, DBW throttle body, etc.). Going to be my first time doing this. Great resources online and guidance from @thatcabledude will make this a reality!

Also cleaned/ checked all the injectors using kit below which cosy $20. Confirmed all are working and saved buying new injectors which are $$$$. Used Berryman’s carb cleaner to clean and test.

Got rear bumper bolted in. Will get swing arms done once body is on. Need to balance gap between bumper and tub. I welded bumper nuts to frame to make them captive for easy bolt in. Bumper wings makes it difficult to access nut if left loose.

I think this is the nest wiring solution if you have the time and energy.
You can’t beat the quality and reliability of an oem harness and computer.

Lt1swap.com for info?
Yes Lt1swap for information. Having gone through this I am sold on the quality of the OEM harness. Very well built!.
