Rookie Intro of my new pig

I re-read this build all the way through AGAIN this morning! Love the rig, but Very sad Lou sold it. Somebody is a very lucky pig owner! Especially impressed with the work on the interior soundproofing etc. WOW! Huge expense from what I can see! Probably well worth it. I'm looking into a Line-X type spray for my floor and also on the roof, but doubt I will ever be able to afford what Lou did on his floor!

The sound proofing and heat protection was worth every penny and my cost was material only. Knowing what I know now, the Liner would be the final coating.
if I was to do it over I would most likely apply the Dynamat first, two layers on the firewall and front floor, then the Ceramic Coating but use the chemical that turns it into Sludge which makes it thicker, then shoot the sound proofing and finally have a liner shot in. The epoxy floor paint looked great but when it finally harden it had small spiderweb cracks so a liner would be much better.
Ryan, if you want to steal something. steal my pig back and leave it in Denver.

Lou

Hey Lou Buddy, you know if I could steal your 55 back I would in a heartbeat! I know how much time and effort you have into it! Not to mention the countless hours of research that you did.

It really is a very cool truck and you never know what is going to happen! Who knows maybe in a couple years it will find its way back. :-)

Lou, do you remember approximately how much your custom IPOR fuel cell cost you? I would be interested in having one made at some point and don't know of any companies around Boise that build them.

It ran about $1000, any sheet metal company could build one. We spoke to Lance at IPOR about building tanks for 55's but he decided it was not cost effective.

Thanks Lou, I actually just found that thread and read it. Spendy little sucker!

There was a long range tank that Man-a-fre used to carry that was 55ish gallons and went where the stock spare tire went. I don't know if you could still get one from them.

This was a couple years ago, so my memory might be off, but I would call them, I think it shipped from overseas and it was somewhere between $500-$700

Ryan.

I knew I'd regret revisiting this thread after establishing a clear, concise direction for mine, and I do.......

Looking to find a clean A/C heater that's relatively OE-ish looking and pics from this thread resulted, caught my Google eye.

Looking for quad cluster mechanical gauges, pics from this thread resulted, caught my eye.

Nice work, Lou, as usual and to be expected, but this thread is a complete fail, since there's only one pic of your lady friends.

Back to the search for AC/Heater/Defrost.

Haha.

Oxymoron-ish when restoring, rebuilding, well anything to do with LCs, huh?

Do your friends help maintain some semblance of sanity?

Hmmmm........hahaha.

Maybe for you.....somewhere there's some miserable, crazy husband who might disagree.

Back to tech, before I get banned from the Sty.

Did you ever have opportunity to utilize the HVAC system?

Never did get the A/C lines run before i sold it

Lou

That's so fun! We used to take the pig up to SAnta Barabara for the polo matches along with a ton of food, beverages and friends. Like to say they were mostly ladies. Looks like alot of the same scene. The only difference is that my pig looked a little more, shall we say used. All the folks came by to look at it. Maybe it was just the girls. I like to think it was my rig!

pig widows? where can my wife sign up? I'm sure she could use the support. and I thought the were just rust magnets:doh:

Lou,

Our paths have been crossing for years with out knowing it... I was at TLC 4x4 / ICON in 2009 and was given the grand tour from Mr Ward and he showed me the red ICON and mentioned it was going out east and the color represented that of a team he was involved with if I remember correctly??? Now, because I spend time at Slee's and have been drooling over the V8 swap!!!

My clients Icon arrived Tuesday and I drove it to his house. He wasn't home so I tucked her away next to the LS600h.
The plan with this ICON is to market it in the Va, MD and DC area. I asked him to by it so I'd have one to test drive and take to area events. He called me a few hours later and said anytime I needed it , just call the house. Sweet!!!

Lou

That ICON was for one of the owners of the Redskins and has since been sold to someone in NY.. Last I heard he was having a hardtop made for it....
We'll I'll be rolling into Golden March 7th to pickup the 80 and I'm excited ..maybe one day we'll meet:)

Lou

Yep, that was the team I figured it was from.

I will be out of town when you come to get it. For what it's worth, 2 weekends ago I was at Christo's Birthday party and we were talking about your 80 and all agreed that this turning out to be a great installation. Joe is doing some serious magic!

You mention being in the car business, I have my 80 for sale on the Slee site as well as a fully restored FJ40 that I will start advertising soon. Just getting to word out there.

4 weeks and counting... I'm looking forward to meeting Christo and crew. Christo speaks highly of Joe his work
Sorry you won't be around when I pick it up but I'll be in Vail for 7 days and the off to Phoenix

Lou
