Resonance in the steering wheel of my new 2014 LC

I've been reluctant to post on this thread again but since about my 10k service the vibration had disappeared and currently at 16k miles. My only thought is it worked itself out or maybe winter gas made the difference? Who knows. Knocking on $80k fake wood it doesn't come back.

Gear shift has a rod that is attached directly to transmission. That will always vibrate.

In my truck the two vibrations are synced - wheel & shifter. On the gas vibrate - off the gas - no vibrate. Has to be driveline something IMO

Just a thought.
Can you look at your steering column in the engine bay and see if there is anything leaning on the shafts. The fuel lines are very close. Something may have gotten bent just a little during assembly.
Something is transferring that vibration to your steering shaft/column.
This is the area I am referring to.

Nice Submariner.

My wife is supposed to be getting me a 40th Anniversary Edition for our 10 year anniversary. Hope she remembers. (I better remind her....)

I've had Rolexes since the 70's never lost a dime on one actually always sold and made money on my old one when I bought a new one. Got the latest in 2012. Latest model actually keeps good time. Only problem anymore they are so big and heavy I feel like a Piss Ant dragging a biscuit.

Are all of us LC/LX guys into the same stuff?

As you can see the Rolex is running about 12 seconds slow.......

Sorry to have caused that.

The sub and my Seamaster are almost twins. I wear the Sub to work and the Seamaster in the weekends

I picked up on this thread tonight .. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/tsb-for-steering-wheel-vibration-lc-lx-differences.806752/

I have a new 2014 LC (got it with 28 miles on the odo .. now around 750 mi). There is a slight steering wheel resonance (not really a vibration i'd say) exactly around 1900-2000 rpm (in low gears) on and off throttle. It is a driveline resonance (rather than a vibration where you'd feel it shake). The sensation is as if you would tap a tuning fork and grab it with your fingers on the resonating end (less pronounced).

All 2014 LCs have the Variable Gear Ratio Steering like the LX 570 (http://toyotanews.pressroom.toyota....ota+land+cruiser+luxury+off+road+heritage.htm).

Now, at least for me it is very slight and noticeable only if I'm paying attention (chalk it up to the characteristics of a pretty amazing drivetrain). Hence, if it means taking this car apart to look at it .. I'll pass. It's too well put together to be dismantled. I may just keep it as a record in the dealership (to confirm it's there so Toyota knows) and go on my merry way. In the 0.01% chance something later comes along due to this I will have something to go on. Digging into my engineering background I am guessing that at certain RPMs (under certain drive load conditions) a positive interference pattern of (otherwise minuscule) vibrations from many driveline components manifest as a harmonic resonance.

When I was shopping I did test drive the Lexus 570 a couple of times (just to see what I could be missing) and it drove very similar to the LC (couldn't tell the difference drive wise). I did not push either engines too many times to take notice (going from a '97 toyota corolla to driving arguably the best engineer cars on the planet .. driveline resonance was not the first thing on my mind). I run Shell 93 V-Power in the LC (yes it makes a small difference).

Good analysis ↑↑↑...for me not a show stopper, but surprising nonetheless. If it would go away I
would not be unhappy.

Mine has a slight vibration as well, never have given it much thought. I agree with the others that have said it is not worth taking the vehicle apart to chase it down, but on the next trip to the dealer it will be added to the list for documentation purposes.

From day one, my '14 LC has had the resonance in question in the same RPM range. It's got 4k miles on it now. I'm planning to bring it to the dealership's attention when I bring it in for 5k servicing to get it on the record, but not actually expecting them to do much about it. It doesn't overwhelmingly bother me but it would be nice if they had a fix for it -- I don't know, maybe a carbon fiber drive shaft or something...

Has anyone found a cure to the vibration? I still have it on my LC and I'm about ready to have the 10K service done.

It's funny how timekeeping opinions are changing. I had a teenager ask me recently, "Why would you wear a gadget that only does one thing?" ;)

I'm looking at getting the Breitling Emergency watch. It does more than one thing that no iPhone can do :)

I will test my 14' for any kind of vibration through rpm ranges from 500-4000rpm this morning and I use 87oct.. I have not noticed anything out of place as of my last time driving it. Will report back by noon MST.
