This tag was found on the failed engine today.
Is it a Toyota tag?
Is it a salvage yard engine tag?
Opinions?

Where on the engine? Any heat tabs? If it came from a yard 99% it would have heat tabs on it. A remain from Toyota, I have zero clue about.

Yes there are heat tabs and it is confirmed as a salvage engine. I think the tag was placed by the salvage yard that the engine came from. But we don't know.
If no one else has a similar tag on a OEM engine then that narrows it down....

Donor engine is in and running........update pending........

Hang with me a bit. I will summarize soon. And I think this unit is going to market.....

Named the dealer on Google responses or whatever it is called. I will let you know if you pm me. At this point it doesn't matter....

The dealer was ultimate scum....

P0335 code seems to be related to disconnected battery for an extended time period.
Having my trusted independent mech check over my engine installation.
Replacing the starter and negative ground cables.

Update soon....

Replacing the starter and r&r the ground wire/cable.
Got a "deep in there" oil leak. Camshaft & Timing housing. Need to remove and replace both banks. (20 hrs of shop time).
Before I go all in on this, we are doing a compression and leak-down test on the "new" swapped in engine........get some popcorn fellas....

I may be reaching for something stronger than popcorn at this stage…

Wait, what?

After you swapped in the ebay motor, now you are having to tear it down to fix an oil leak? Is warranty involved?

Bought the engine on EBAY from JDM seller. Now I'm double checking things. No other way, unfortunately. Was a gamble at best.

30 day warranty....

Edging closer to closure. Hang in there w/ me.....:)

Here's where I am now:
The "new to me" tundra(?) engine has been swapped in successfully to the otherwise pristine 2014 LC (FrankenCruiser). Still working out some oil leaks and getting it tweaked.
I think at this point I am intending to keep this LC and "drive the value out of it" as my buddy likes to say.

Prolly will put the 2014 LX up for sale.

Will update soon........
