I ditched my cruise control the day i got my 91. besides who needs cruise control when you have close to 100awhp on a 6800 lbs rig...lol
I’ve used my CC quite a bit. I don’t always trailer my 80. Twice my wife and I have taken the 93 on multi week road trips around the western region of the USA. It may not work as well as CC in my Dodge 2500 but it works well enough to give my leg a break during periods of travel over more level terrain.

is your 05 5.9L 24v? Are you happy with the 48RE tranny?

24 valve common rail injection. The 48re is a big version of the iconic torqueflite 727 that came out, I believe in the early 60’s. There is nothing wrong with the design as they used the 727 in muscle cars.

Many 48re’s have lived 200k plus miles behind the Cummins, that in stock form, works a transmission hard right off idle. The main problem with the factory 48re was torque converters that failed sending pieces of metal through the entire system.

Once built right, the 48re holds its own very well. Serious diesel drag racers and sled pullers who run newer Dodges will often times ditch the six speed auto and go backward to the 48re because there is more room for extra clutches and other heavy duty mods.

My trans was built six years ago and I’m quite happy with it.

No cruise control in my 80. On long motorway trips, I've used the hand throttle as a poor man's cruise control

It gives the leg a rest, but you gotta stay alert ⚠️ 🤣

Time for a hydro booster.
I think I'm going to add a second pump for steering this off season and use the OE pump for hydroboost.

MY first wheeler was a 1958 Willys Wagon that I put a SBC in, and I used to use the hand throttle for cruise control 😂 that was back in the mid 70s
Not to many Car had cruise control back then.

i had a MTB thumb shifter as a throttle set on my old 84 minitruck. I hope to do the same thing for my old fj40 when i get her running.

Any update Steve on the direction going forward?
Are you putting in for moving everything to the green 96?

The change over is happening very slowly. There has been a lot of other things to do at my place. It will get done sooner or later. Heck, I still need to give my thread a third title.

Back to green with the Champ 2. Engine is coming out and clean up of the grimy coating from core support to gas tank from years of neglected oil leaks.

The power train has been liberated for a couple weeks now. I got sick then went south east 3000 miles to visit Mom. Don’t forget the woman that bore your sorry ass.

Today we separate these units. The engine leaks like mad so I figured a proper clean up and reseal demanded engine removal. Then I got to thinking and that got me into a full rebuild with dreams of a turbo. The planning stages are more fun than wheeling.
