Short question: Does anyone know/ can anyone measure their rear seatbelt length??? Im looking for the fully extended length of either side (3point- ie. shoulder)

Long story: I'm trying to swap over to 3 point rear seatbelts and also order new seatbelts all around for my FJ60. The front belts are easy enough to measure. The rear of my vehicle has the threaded hole from the factory (yay).... just need to know what length to order.

Going with seatbeltsplus.com

For the record, I measured ~126" for the front.

Thanks for any help!

Are you wanting to go 3-point retractable for rear belts? I don't have measurement for rear 3-point belts but the measurement should be about the same as the front. I installed a set of front FJ62 belts for the rear seats and the length is not too long nor too short.

Yes sir, exactly what I'm doing.

I can get you a measurement tonight. I was thinking of actually replacing the webbing in the old set of belts that I purchased because they are not in the greatest of shape. Are you buying a generic belt from them or specific to the FJ62?

I am buying generic belts. They want to know the length of the webbing when fully extended. Should be three measurements
I would greatly appreciate it

Hey, here is a photo of the (right) rear belt from a late 88 FJ62 fully extended. They are about 8 feet long (98" to be exact) when fully out. For reference, the female portion is about 12" in length (or about 8" just for the webbing). Let me know how it works out. I am going to replace my webbing and also put in child anchor clips to clip in a booster seat.

VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!! I will report on my experiences withthe new (aftermarket) belts.

PS Kon, your belts are in great shape compared to mine!

Good tech.

Please note the part number when you find a winner. Maybe ask the manufacturer to now offer a vehicle specific belt set for our 60's. Thanks.

Any insight on your aftermarket seatbelts would be greatly appreciated I'm looking to replace my 90 fj62 back shoulder seat belts thanks in advance

Bowzuka, I just replaced my rear lap belts with a custom lap/shoulder set from seatbeltplanet.com. My brother, @Dsellers, put them in today (mostly). I'm sure he can chime in here. They were about $260 for the set.

@dbleon, update on yours?

Do you happen to have a picture of the mount point on the rear belt recoil assembly?

Can you take a closeup pic of the two lower mount points on your setup

Hello ... anybody home? Can you take a pic of the rear belt lower mount point?

When it rains, it pours:

Photos of my recent (last week) installation of OEM belts from my '89 FJ62 donor vehicle into my '86 FJ60 project vehicle. I had the benefit of 1) the donor sitting in the driveway right next to the recipient and 2) a complete donor vehicle with the same color interior (I kind of planned it that way ~15 years ago when I first started gathering vehicles/parts for my eventual project).

The last photo shows how I plugged the floorboard holes in the FJ60 using hardware from the local Do-it-Best Hardware store. I used a large, thick washer under the bolt, along with a thick O-ring under the washer to seal against dust and moisture (probably overkill, but you wouldn't appreciate the dust issue unless you've ever lived in a place where fine dust routinely builds miniature sand dunes inside the house at the front and back door). The way the nuts are welded onto the body in the factory from underneath, there's a little depression inside the body that serves as a great O-ring groove.

@jfnall, hey brother, really sorry I haven't seen this. I completely missed the alert. Looks like some good pic above; I just went out and snapped a couple that will hopefully help as well.

You can see where the retractor was mounted from a different angle here:

And the lower mounting point from the inside and outside here:

If you are using the belts from Seat Belt Planet, know that they are very sensitive. The tensioning mechanism thinks you're in a rollover anytime you're parked on an incline, making the belts very difficult sometimes to pull out.

@4Cruisers , @Dozer18, I assume you drilled this spot out for your lower anchor point? I don't have a 62 to compare to; do they use the same point?

I reused the old anchor point for the retractor for the two-point belts. I'm not super happy with it.

The FJ62s with 3-point harness seat belts anchor at the factory location shown in my second photo and the third and fourth photos posted by @Dozer18. The FJ60 has flats at those locations so can be easily drilled for the 7/16 - 20 bolts.

@bhk - I can't quite identify the location of your avatar photo. It's hard to tell because so many of the volcanic features here in New Mexico are similar in appearance.
