Why do vendors try to sell these for almost twice the price of a new one? I guess because people don't know they are still available - and cheap?

Edit: Deleting photo as it identifies vendor.

It's the early style license plate light. One of our vendors has a so so used one for $60 listed.....

Thanks.....the photo I deleted was a little "crustier" than that one.

I will never complain about anyone's prices on unobtanium or even any type of NLA part. For some reason though it really bothers me when they want 2x the price of a still available, new part for a partially rusty whatever. Maybe they're charging for the "patina".........another word that I use to like.

Yea selling a currently available item as NOS and charging more is prevalent in this hobby. In others you would be skewered and hung on open forum. I don’t understand it here. Laziness? Lack of trying to source stuff?

To be clear, in this instance they are selling it as used with no mention of NOS or NLA. Nothing dishonest per se; just nearly double the price of a still available new part. Of course there is also some intentionally misrepresented NOS stuff out there by some of our vendors. Thankfully though, most everyone on this site is pretty honest.

Don’t get me wrong, it looks like a beautiful repro!

No idea who that person is in Glendale, CA but they have a lot of expensive, restored parts.
I have heard he is a big cruiser guy and has a cargo container or two of pretty rare cruiser parts. He restores them all himself and painstakingly restores to “new” condition. He posts on Instagram before and after parts pictures. He has a couple of original yellow jack handles…not the extension pieces but the handles. I really want one but he asks an arms and a leg. Who here has the original handle for their pig?

I do. I have everything, jack, handles, and tools.
