That’s good to know! Did they have any more?
They have 4-5 pig hoods. Some early style and some later style. They also have 55 doors, several tailgate window regulators, 1F air cleaners, and a bunch of engine and driveline parts. They have maybe 10-12 front and rear bench seats. They have much more 40 items than 55. When I was there last week they had one full parts pig. When I bought the hood 8 months ago they had 3 parts pigs. They tend to pul them apart and store the individual components. I needed a handful of those little metal clips that hold in the window felt. I went in their boneyard to get them. They had plenty.

They had an very snice 1969 FJ55 out back there in 2019. YMMV, and Brian sold BTB. No idea what the new owners are like.

I’ve been there a lot. The new owner is essentially an absentee owner. Not sure they even live in the area. Never met him. The parts guy Rick and the shop manager Elvin are both great.

When did Brian sell? I picked up some parts last yr? Was in Vegas over turkey day, should of checked them out.
Mike

Hard to believe some of the prices lately. Not a pig but in same lineage.

Are 80’s that hard to come by?
I can see the condition and 74k miles helping it to bring top dollar. I guess the buyer HAD to have it.
This I think. He posted in the 80 section asking for someone to go inspect it. I mean what's to inspect? And once you do the deal aren't you kind of committed? Maybe not; I haven't bought anything off BAT - yet.

Nice clean ones are fetching top dollar. The recent craze with vintage 4x4s has driven the value of these up exponentially. Stuff I could pick up 3 years ago for $3k is now $10k+, nicer ones are 20k+. BAT has only fueled the price craziness. The 80s are in demand because they are arguably one of the most capable OEM 4x4s ever made and now that they are classics that makes them highly desirable.

I agree that they definitely are one of the best 4x platforms ever, but what I wonder is if any of these going for these crazy prices will ever see dirt.(?) Almost too much of an investment to have any fun with it or use it for what it was designed for.

I believe you're correct. A lot of the low mileage ones that are fetching crazy prices are going into collections. I've seen a few collections here in TX and OK. They never get driven let alone see dirt.

It's not just classic 4x4s. Classic sports cars, especially high end ones, have gone just as crazy.

Haven't watched the B/J action though I have a friend from here who took two late '60s Camaros down for that auction and usually takes a car or two down each year. It'll be interesting to check in with him when they return from Scottsdale. Watching Mecum in Kissimmee a few weeks ago I was shocked at the prices for just about everything. Mustangs, not Shelby's, from '68-'72 were almost universally in the mid-$100k range, double what they brought just a couple of years ago. If this keeps up or even stays the same my granddaughters' college funds will be flush when I finally reach the point I can't get in and out of the Porsche and Pig without assistance. Hopefully that's 10-12 years in the future so timing would be just about right.

The 80 market is crazy, I sold a really nice ‘94 to a buddy 5-6 years ago for $10k. I had driven it for 10 years and basically sold it for what I bought it for, minus the mods through the years. Problem with them is the 90s electronics, all that stuff is getting long in the tooth and not easily fixed or available. Still a good looking truck (though under-powered) 😉

A co worker has flipped a couple 80’s and done alright, but his latest one I’m scratching my head on. Good condition, but 280k on the clock. He just lifted it and is getting ready to put some other “expedition” upgrades in hopes of pulling $20k on final sale. He’ll likely be 15k in to it.
