Today I got my 33" skinnes on my FJ60 rims. I really like how they turned out. It barely clears my garage door in its normal up position. Skinnes offer so much less resistance than 10.5" when I drove it for the first time I'm thinking power steering isn't a must have, but I'm still going to do it because it makes sense to do.

Also I went to the boneyards with Dan and found some really cool parts. I ended up picking up a cable hood latch, so I am going to play with that and see if I can get that to work. By having that it just offers one more level of security in my car as long as my hardtop is on.

Of course I took a picture of how it looks in the exact same spot I do. :D

Very nice! The 33x9.50 and 2.5" OME just looks right on a 40. The end.

Looking good! Its amazing what a fresh lift and wheels and tire can do for, not only looks, but performance! Keep up the good work!

oh dang, here come the chickitas......

My sister says FJ40's are "chick magnets." Not sure what that means, but figure Paul will have better luck than I will.

Main???? Are you planning on cruising Moriarty or something? It's all about Montgomery, if I remember correctly. We can cruise a few 40s deep with a Power Wagon thrown in for good measure. I bet Jon could even race a few kids in da'40. I would honestly love to see that.

Very nice Paul, looks much better!

In just a few weeks we shall see if that is true. I'm feeling the odds are good. :)

I don't know if I would be wanting to pick chicks up off main.

It would be pretty cool to see a group of cruisers just rolling together down a street together. And it wouldn't surprise me to if Jon's 40 could beat some tuners.

11. Cruise "Main" (don't know where that in is Burque), Montgomery, Central, etc, when all is said and done expose the chick magnet (sorry Dad). That 40 looks like she is going to snap a few necks.

Fixed for you!!!!:grinpimp:

Regarding #9, how good are the parking brake in the 40s? If not overly strong, how about a line lock that can be locked as well? Line lock link I wonder if you can find one that has the ability to lock the push/pull button and use it as an additional theft deterrent?

The stock 40 series T-case emergency brake isn't great, but well adjusted it's not bad. A line lock is good for short periods of time, but I'd worry about leaving the vehicle with pressure in the brake lines for days on end. I know that on airplanes leaving the parking brake on for a few days (our parking brakes are hydraulic) eventually causes the pistons to fail (actually the seals on the pistons, usually O-rings).

But I've sure thought about adding a line lock just for wheeling or holding it in addition to the e-brake for short periods of time (like if I were to try winching with my 45--if it ever runs :flipoff2:)

When Paul lists "brake lines" I think we're just talking about replacing the soft lines. Easy enough time to do it while the knuckles are all apart.

Dan

Paul:

I've got one full tub of Mobile 1 synthetic wheel bearing grease. You're welcome to that, or feel free to bring your own.

I didn't see any unopened brake fluid, so you might want to bring some to we can replace the brake lines if they are ready.

Thanks Dan that sounds good. Tomorrow I am collecting the last pieces of parts I'll need to finish the project and I will pick up some brake fluid.

Ash you forget, we are in NM, any block, rock, brick, etc. is completely acceptable for this :hillbilly: !

You redneck! I used to carry a set of chocks in my truck with a rope attached to them so I could pull forward and retrieve them without having to stop. That's the SAFE way to chock your tires. ;)

I still keep suitable rocks near the steep road by the shop, in case I need to park a Power Wagon on it--because I REALLY don't trust those parking brakes.

Some of us can't afford chocks. Like the idea though, guess i will have to start drilling holes in bricks :flipoff2:! Darn us cocconuts!

What about the multi-use cinder block? You can block your tires and use it as a jack stand. ;)

 please don't ever use one of those as a jack stand. i've seen guys nearly crushed when the cinder block gave way. had to use airbags to lift a trailer house off one.

Ouch, I know. Thats why we used the jack stands for the first time when we put the lift in. It better have a 6 ton rating or it isn't going under my vehicle.
