Just finished these yesterday, 8 tea boxes for Christmas presents.

This was my inspiration:

These things were WAAAAAY more work than I anticipated. These YouTube videos make things like this look to easy, but in this case it took many more hours than I expected. I ended up doing some research on different tea bags and found the dimensions in his plans were too small for most of the brands out there, so I made mine a little bigger, they are about 4"W x 8"L x 4"H. The pattern plywood was a crazy amount of work, and I'll probably never do this process again, as it's very wasteful for expensive baltic birch plywood. Most of the plywood ends up in the dust collector as sawdust! Sooo much sanding, my new drum sander was key to this project.

Sides are white ash, the darker liners and splines are Sapele (similar to mahogany). Dark squares in the patterns are black walnut.

One is different, a neighbor gave me a hunk of wood from the pile he inherited when his dad passed, I'm still not sure what it is, but we think it's tulipwood. I made him a box as a thanks.

I used the Odie's Oil to finish them, weird stuff to use but it really did come out nice, very smooth.

With tea bags...

Beautiful!
if you tack a small 1/4”x 2” piece of stock across the Top of the bolt you won’t need a tool to adjust. Like a thumb screw design.👍

This was done about a year ago. I haven't been doing any miniatures since.
Note the firing pins.
I have developed some painful arthritis in the thumb of my tight hand so if I ever get some more ambition my thought is to make some ammo that fires.
The main problem is fitting in stronger springs for the hammers and staying in scale on outside dimensions.
Each 10 squares on the grid paper is one inch.
The gun is 12" long.
Material is steel, brass and English walnut.
Birchwood Cassy bluing.

Finished the 4" vise attachment for my drill press table:

20221214_144235.jpg

Also got rid of the poorly designed/executed light that HF put on this drill press:

20181216_163320.jpg

I tend to 'over think' things, and after pondering how to Hack Fab an outlet onto the drill press, while still using the existing on/off switch, I came up with this:

One of the next projects: Dust collection for the drill press:

Waiting (also) in the queue: Box Fan Filters.

Finished up a pair of rope makers for my son's Boy Scout Troop (he's one of the leaders):

During the 'downtime' between projects, I've been trying to organize my basement shop:

At my age, all those storage/tool boxes start looking alike. Like: Does that box have the bolts or the screws in it? Or which DeWalt or Bosch box has what in it?

Same with all the drawers on the 'Wall of Craftsman', I'm attempting to get organized by function. IE: A box for all the hand tools, one for the drill bits/accessories, another for the various saws. Lots of labels already, and I've still got five or six more boxes to organize/label. Good winter project (I guess)...

My son came up with some last minute Christmas gifts he wanted to make. Of course, this was six days before Christmas. Spent two days in the shop helping him get all the detail cutting, routing, and sanding done:

1000001452001.jpg

We turned out six of these, probably cost under $5 a piece in materials.

30 min welding!

@firestopper 's suggestion, took 2" of 1/4" rod, but notched it to nest bolt head, then gave it a few zaps
🤙🏼
Tool-free awesome!

Confobblecating the next lamp project...
Kid wants a lamp for reading in bed, except no headboard as he's got a (free ;) ) loft bed... so working with the rods on the railing. . .

Will tack the socket bracket to the square mount, and just ordered 25W LED candelabra base (That demo 60W...a bit much).

Corsi-Rosenthal box. Yep. Great and simple design. I considered doing something similar, but didn't want to sacrifice the floor space.
I made it primarily for when I was sanding drywall, but I'm pretty sure I'm done with that now, hopefully forever. I'm in the design phase now for a new 24x24 shop, and I might mount it in the ceiling. Need to figure out a remote control for it.

I used this: Amazon product ASIN B00004S9AI for my HF dust collector setup:

There are cheaper alternatives, but this works great for my application.

I'm relatively new here, but this is what I was doing before I decided that I must put my fj55 back together. I had some ideas around building a good quality tube preamp control center for my stereo setup. I got tired of fixing old junk and decided to just start new. So I out together some circuits I liked with my own input switching design and I really liked the sound. My friend Alan heard the prototype and asked me to build him one, so I did, then others began to ask, and at this point I've completed about 10 of them.
They are all tube pre amplifiers with no transistors, power supply is isolated in its own little room. There inputs for moving magnet and moving coil phono carts using custom cinemag step up transformers, and 3 additional line level inputs. The outer case is made of solid claro walnut sanded to a glass like finish and linseed oiled to perfection.
It's all point to point, all brand new parts except the tubes.

you can listen to fiddle music, farts, fiddle farts, Frank Zappa or just about anything on any analog format.
I think they're pretty cool.
