I have been driving Patina all this time with no temperature or pressure gauges.

The old 68 style oem gauges are NLA so I’ve been just hoping my new old 2F is fine and I’d hear or smell a problem before I blew it up.

I grabbed a set of cheapo gauges and was going to put it in today.

That was a total fail.

The aftermarket NPT stuff and the temp probe is too long.

Fail.

The oil pressure sensor is not NPT either. It’s 1/8” BSPT

So. I ordered more parts. Got some copper line because every thread @Godwin posted in that I searched said I had to.

So. This is the second project I had lined up for the weekend that won’t pan out.

I might have to cut grass at this rate.

You may have mentioned your furry friend that rides along. Definitely adds to the story. What is his or her name?

Insulate the copper tube in vacuum hose or something where it passes through the firewall, but after cutting grass.

I thought I had buyer for the 62 body I'm trying to sell. That fell through so no prepping the body this weekend. Looks like I'll be cutting up trees that fell the other night instead.

Details on the 62 body? I’m trying to shove @under_psi into a 80/60 project

Jim, I saw your post on CL this week and figured it was yours. I would love to get it and swap the body onto my rusty 62, but my wife would kill me with three 6x's in the driveway...

Hoping someone from up north would pick it up and haul it away. It's not in the way for now plus I'm using it to store canoes and kayaks, but better to go to someone that could use it than have it sitting around.

1968’s with coral seats also came with red seatbelts.

I’ve been running some OEM later 2 point retractable belts that were fine with the old beat up interior.

These are more to touch.

I got the parts in for the aftermarket mechanical gauges.

1/8 BSPT adapter goes in where the electric gauge was on the side of the oil filter housing.

Temp gauge was a little more complex.

I ordered this sweet little fitting that goes into any 4” straight section of radiator hose.

@beno sent me a new upper in case this hairbrained idea did not work.

But it did.

I told y’all I had a few plans for Patina.

This one has been in the works for a while.

I recently was able to spend some time with the Yokohama team out in California. We talked tires a lot and I told them I was a huge BFG homer.

They wanted me to test out a set of their new MT2003’s for the type wheeling I do.

I really wanted to use them on Patina but I did not want to run 31x10.50’s or 33x10.50s. I wanted a bit more diameter to lower my RPMs but narrow to keep my nice manual steering feel.

I settled on 235/85/16’s.....

16’s you ask?

Well @Racer65 is kind enough to broker some really cool wheel some Australian dude designed. Solid steel 16’s built like OEM steelies with hubcap clips made in Japan.

16" Wheels / Rims for Land Cruiser FJ40 FJ45 FJ60 70 Series

I also got a reproduction set of Toyota acorn hubcaps. The 68 was a transition year for black rims and acorns and after @treerootCO sent me the factory brochure with them on a 68 I had to transform Patina

City Racer says 2-3 weeks to ship. They arrived FedEx International 2 days later. That’s insane.

Being this is Project Patina it seemed fitting I should just use my local tire guy to mount them up
