You could put some header wrap on the exhaust under the driver floorboard, Nolen. It would help a bunch. I have a horror story about an older fellow I met who drove his 40 from AZ to AR and literally cooked his feet due to neuropathy. Bad deal all around.

Yeah. I looked at that too. I can get that done without pulling the tranny hump.

The place that is the hottest is right where I put the shield. I’ll test it out. If no help I’ll add the wrap.

I've also got all kinds of weird heat shields left over from this 62 dismemberment. Lemme know if you need some smaller ones or ones with different shapes to go around stuff.....

One way to get rid of the heat buildup

I saw the bottle jack and got  scared for a second. Then I scrolled a bit more :smokin:

I used header wrap on my exhaust where it passes under the driver side floor board . It made a huge difference.

Ordered some.

Another fun item that was in great shape on that 1970 parts truck is this gas tube guard.

Under the windshield and around the top of the tub were nasty.

I’ve laid down the rust Converter and I’ll patch the holes.

When it goes back together it will have a whole bunch of nice OEM repro rubber from @Racer65

Took a nice long ride this afternoon on this perfect 69* day

Patina feels like a sports car and is 95* rattle free now with the top off.

Pig likes it too

Chopped liver over here :)

I had already ordered some on your advice old man.

That said, I’m still going to use it but my heat shield did the trick. IR temp before was 220* now it’s 100* on the driver side of the tranny hump (that was for Dave)

Loving the way it drives so much.
