I broke one of my windshield knobs so
I got a couple of new ones from Wits End

I need a pair of those.

Solid external bones is key to a Patina rig. If you have to replace a major part on the outside and it totally stands out then maybe it’s not the right pick. That truck is a good start from those pics.

Happy Independence Day to you fine Americans and a special thank you to those that have served to continue to protect our freedoms. I hope all y’all have a great day tomorrow

The most exciting news of the day though is the arrival of this beauty.

The @FJ40Jim Bionic Hybrid carburetor for Patina.

I just wish JC who was born in December 25th had signed the carb and not the paper.

And a steering dooflanker.
Should be a doo-flanker in the box somewhere.

JC wheeled my dads 60 for a weekend at Coal Miners classic. It is now burning less oil. Coincidence......

Great looking build WnGrog!

It’s no coincidence

So. @pmccraney and I took Patina to lunch. I was explaining to him how I was getting a new carb while we were cruiseing down the road perfectly at 60 mph.

Seemed silly.

After he left today I decided to pop this @FJ40Jim carb on Patina.

I had to transfer a few items over from the Trollhole carb like the manual throttle cable and some other goodies.

I set it down onto he intake and the vacuum dookicky that is on this carb that was not on the old carb hit my brake master.

I “clearances” it with my Toyota ball peen until it fit.

I need to adjust my throttle cable a bit but I’ll say. This thing fired up and started and idles and ran like a new vehicle. I can’t say how happy I feel about getting Patina this beautiful carburetor.

Thanks again Jim. Now I hunt for a 1976-77 carb to get you to do magic on for the Warthog

It's unfortunate that the shiny choke breaker can is banging into the brake reservoir. Knowing that the engine moves around while driving, the CB is simply gonna have to come off. Fortunately, it's not real important in your mild climate.

Remove the hairpin clip off the little link rod, remove 2 phillips screws, remove CB, reinstall 2 screws.

I put the patient in surgery.

It felt like being a first year surgery resident “fixing” something for the world class surgeon.

I carefully removed everything with my Toyota screwdriver and got that part done then moved to the throttle cable.

The throttle on my 1968 is a manual cable with a ball clamp setup on the end that goes into a little knob that I robbed off my old setup.

I think Rob set all that up a long time ago. Maybe Pat.

Anyway. No matter how I adjusted it there was either tension on the cable thus wrecking JC’s perfectly set idle or I could only get 4/5th throttle which is no good either.

I looked back at my pics and saw it. This little plate on the Trollhole carb. It pushed the cable to a better angle with full range of motion.

Installation with carb in the truck was not easy but I carefully got it done.

Now I have WOT and the lowest smoothest idle known to mortals.

I was so excited to take it for a spin until I saw the coolant on the ground.

Looks like it’s dripping straight down the front of the motor from the NEWish water pump.

Dammit. Maybe a bolt snug after lunch will do it. I damn sure hope so.
