Chromo front axles or at least 35sp outers, 35spline drive slugs or selectable hubs.

Nwf high steer arms are better imo. Stud kit for the high steer arms.

Why are you rebuilding the kingpins? Did this truck have super high miles or something?

None of this price modeling includes out boarding the front springs, lol.

Mo money mo money!

I’ll check out the NWF arms. The wfo kit comes with studs.

On the kingpin rebuild...figured why not if I’m tearing it all apart and the cost is very minimal in comparison. I have zero clue what the miles were/are on these but being from a box truck I assumed they aren’t low.

Had some more time to look. Your list has a lot of unnecessaries. I cut it down to this.

Front axle
Ruffstuff
  • 6 lug hubs: 440
  • Shock mounts: 18
Ecgs
  • Gears 5.38: 368
  • Install kit: 135
  • Arb locker: 1060
Wfo
  • high steer arms: 335
  • Tie rod & drag link plus ends: 340
  • King pin tool x2: 10 each
  • Shaft ujoints x2: 50 each
  • Ubolt plate kit: 90
  • Extra stud: 10

$2931 total front axle

Rear axle
Ruffstuff
  • 6 lug hubs: 400
  • Ubolts x4: 12 each
  • Shock mounts: 28
Ecgs
Wfo

$1635 total rear

Also, check this out. Big discount on lots of stuff, they may even have high steer arms

Thanks...I knew there was a place I wasn’t browsing just couldn’t think of the name! Barnes gets high compliments on NC4x4.

Why do you need to spend $900 on wheel hubs when you have a friendly cruiserhead in the same town with a mill and lathe? :)

Or just leave them 8-lug.. and put them under a different rig..

I thought you were having transmission issues not axle issues:grinpimp:

That is an option for sure. The front hubs being c&c style need a good amount of work to get to srw style. Even without reworking the hubs I’m going to need a decent amount of help from Johnny’s big boy machines and don’t want to wear out my welcome :D.

Economical compromise might be to buy new front hubs and rework the rears.

Thanks for the ideas for saving money...kinda opposite from our clubs normal MO of enablement!

Are you like me in that your winch gets used around the house/shop more than for trail recovery?

That reminds me to make time today to mount the 8274 on the 40... Not sure what I'll use instead to keep the basement floor from blowing away, though. I wonder which of my neighbors I should call to help me with that? Maybe the new one.

Definitely the new neighbor. Break them in quick!

Also...extended my ‘winching when not wheeling’ streak to 2 days!

...and no, I did not drag it by the damage multiplier!

Keep it going...you'll catch up to my 40 in the "organic matter paint job" in about 10 years.

Brought the truck back to the shop from storage a couple weeks ago. Future driver getting acclimated.

Planning to swap in some 3fe exhaust manifolds in hopes of eliminating what I think is an exhaust leak...tic...tic..tic...
