Nick,

Last night I picked up a transmission pan drain plug. You drill a 1/2" hole in the pan and then the drain body bolts through it. They are less than $10. Next time you drain your tranny you might put one it. Way less mess.

I found some good links on the 700R4 you might be interested in. The first is for setting up the kick down cable. It is quite critical if you don't want to burn out your tranny.

Steve, thanks for the info. The drain plug sure would make things easier, at least save me from another bath. I've watched a few adjustment videos on youtube but it helps to be able to read about how it works. The first link was filled with all kinds of good info and the temp sensor was also very helpful. I currently have my temp sensor inline on my output line. I haven't been able to get my tranny up to speed yet so I haven't built up any temps in it yet. I'm anxious to see how it works. I'll post up w/ some results. I'll also put up some pics tomorrow when I get home of my bracket on my TV cable.

I finally got my cutouts for my center dash and ashtray cluster and have to say the turned out really nice. Here are a few shots of them mocked up. They still have to be painted or powdercoated and I am going to get some different bolts (probably machine head screws so I can counter sink them).

I just need to order my rocker switches now.

Nick

...and an some ARB lockers and compressor, a winch, and an LED light bar to hook the switches up to ;), and ....

Exactly, I just need to wait so I can get my government bailout check in the mail. Maybe I can get an old light bar from work, that'd look really nice!!!

Why didn't you warn me that this was an expensive habit! I blame you!! :D :flipoff2: :D

Steve -

I used the hose recommended by John Smiths sag buildup for a 4wd vehicle. Let me find it and I'll get you the part number.

Oh, I also got a new front windshield, now I can go really fast and not have any bugs in my teeth!

My wife was cracking up about our windshield conversation :p

Nick, is this the one you are talking about?

High Pressure Hose - I used a Gates 364150 from Rockauto which is for a 78 Jeep CJ with a V6. I had to modify this hose by hand bending it to fit the PS pump. After looking at pictures online I believe a better part number would be the same application but with a V8 engine. I believe this part would not require much bending at all looking at pictures. Others have posted that they have used this hose without issue also. At the time I did not know the engines used different hoses. For the V8 application Advance Auto part# 91473 should get you the correct hose.

Low Pressure Hose - Powercraft 70551 11.99 Advance Auto - Application is 78 Jeep CJ7 with either a V6 or V8. If you just want a 3/8" return flare fitting and want to source your own hose you can use Powercraft #39135 or Gates #350150

I was considering those very parts, but the hoses in his pics didn't lay down as nice as yours. Maybe it was just the angles in the pics.

So you had no issue modding the V6 pressure hose to fit? I need to find a new steel line out of the box too since mine is badly kinked.

Thats the one. I ended up buying the V8 hose and had to bend it a bit to get it to work properly. I never tried the v6 hose so i can't comment on that one, but so far the v8 has worked for me.

How much bending did you have to do?

Really not much, just more form fitting to make it work. 95-98% of the shape was there, I just had make it work w/ what I had. Really, the V8 version worked fine for my application.

SUPER SICK man I love it

I still am waiting to see it in person... you have about 2 more weeks to have it finished so you can bring it to the next meeting...

Thanks a bunch. I was thinking about having 50 or so cut and sell them on here, that is if there is anyone interested.

Man, it will be close. I'm trying to figure out some rough idle problems w/ my TBI. I've replace my TPS and both injectors. Got my new windshield, need to attach my seatbelts, get it inspected & registered, insurance, .... you get the idea. Really want to try to make this meeting.

you can still drive it!

Its been a while since I've updated my buildup so I thought I post up some of the things I've done. First off, I had a windshield installed (I don't think i've mentioned this) it was $145 out the door for new glass, gasket, and installation. My frame was slightly bent but they guys installing it were able to bend it back w/o any damage to the paint or frame. I didn't even notice it was bent.

I also ordered and installed new bilstein 5125 shocks for the front and rear. I removed my old shock towers and installed the ford shock towers. Sure makes a difference in the ride quality w/ shocks :D

I wanted to get my 40 inspected but you have to have windshield wipers to pass inspection, which is something I hadn't got to yet. So I pulled up Coolermans website and figured out my wiring for my wipers. Pulled all new wiring up to the motors (which was a pain) and installed a new switch for my wipers. They work now like a champ! I did order a new Cortura rocker switch for my wipers which will have a off/on/on function for the off/slow/fast function and will remove my old pull switch. I also order a rocker switch for the windshield washers which will be installed on the same switch as my dome lights (on/off/on). I also spent the day cleaning up some of my switch wiring and accessory wiring, looks a lot better now that it doesn't look like my dash is puking wires!

I washed it this afternoon to get the nice thick layer of dust off of it then took a few "poser" shots of it out in front.

I also called Justin at Redline cruisers today and ordered a NEW EXTREME FAMILY CAGE!!! Way excited to see it. I am going up to Colorado towards the end of June on a 4 Wheeler riding / Camping trip and am going to pick it up on my way home! Would like to give props to Justin for being extremely helpful!!!

The last thing I have to do to get it inspected is get my parking brake hooked up. Once that is done I can get my inspection and registration done then it will be road legal. I do still have to try and troubleshoot why my idle is so rough and my O2 sensor is rich. That has been a real challenge to try to figure out.

Nick

Been lurking and following along...very nice and I am almost as green with envy as your cruiser! But, that isn't why I am posting.. Would you share your Bilstein part numbers? I want to do the same, and have had a hard time figuring out which ones to use (mostly length..) Hope you got a good buy on them!

Happy Cruising and Cheers!
