Hey Kurt, I just called you guys and I'm going to call back tomorrow when Bryce is around since he's the 200 expert on these drawers but i wanted to check what part numbers this setup is? These are the 41" long ones right? Does it still allow you to use the 2nd row seats in the seated and flipped up configurations?

Sorry for the delayed reply, life has been crazy busy the last few months and I’m just now tagging back in on Mud.

My drawers are the RD1045’s. Yes, 2nd row seats are totally functional, slide, recline, tumble, etc.

Fuel pump season?

We lost (suspect we lost) a starter and a fuel pump in the Canguro 200 at a desert race this summer. I was able to bypass the starter with the old "jumper cable and long screwdriver" method and get it spinning again but then we had a crank no-start. The fuel cell on the back runs dual OE Toyota fuel pump assemblies. We simply swap the harness and the return and output (stock has 2 returns and 1 output per pump, this one has a single output and a single return). She fired to life after some more cranking and we were off to the races... literally. We since torn down the vehicle in prep for the Baja 1000 and replaced the bad bump motor (not assembly).

Fast forward a few months and a near identical thing happens to my 200 after some I was doing some winch training and my battery dipped low. No biggy, I have dual batteries and a jump start pairing mode. No dice... it was dead in the water. No crank. We hooked it to Jacksons 80 and let it charge the main battery for a while, no change. We bypassed the starter relay and could get it to crank away and even got it to fire a couple of times but never could get it to run. Mind you this was all done in the desert at a campground. I was dead confident it was a failure with the immobilizer/theft prevention based on everything we were diagnosing. No signal to the relay and no signal to the fuel pump. Big thanks to @paul r for dragging me back to SLC and my pal Carl @ KM Toyota for hopping on the repair while I was in/out of town that week. Turns out it was a failed starter relay AND fuel pump at the exact same time. Super wild. A new pump and relay in place and it's 100% fixed and good to go. So I'll add a fuel pump and starter relay to my list of spares to pack :D

I plan to dissect the Canguro pump and my own to see if I can identify a failure mode.

Some sort of low voltage situation burning out the fuel pump when the starter fails?

I do suspect the low voltage may have been a culprit. I've been working thru the start sequence process to see how the two (relay and pump) are related. Totally odd as it's not like I'm the first 200 to get a low battery, hell my 200 has had many low batteries over the years for various reasons. I did lose a battery completely (dead cell) in the desert a few years back. In that case jumping didn't do a thing, we had to physically swap a working battery to even get it to recognize the immobilzer, open the electronic hatch, etc.

Or maybe over-voltage? Or just some sort of EMI noise? If the starter solenoid isn't working correctly I wonder if it's last hurrah is a massive short to ground

(just sort of thinking out loud... my knowledge of 12V systems is limited so don't go chasing my suggestions as if I know something)

I'd say this is spot on and prescient. What happens with motors is they will pull whatever power they will pull in an attempt to start. Power = volts x amps. In a low voltage situation, these inductive loads will pull potentially many more amps in an attempt to make the power necessary. Amps creating much more heat that can burn out brushes, contacts, windings, etc.

I don’t think it is a low voltage thing.

I had a fuse half blown that was sending 9 bolts to the fuel pump. Then sending it all, then cutting off. I ended up have fuel boiling for the first time ever... EVER.

Traced it all the way to this half blown INJ fuse and everything back to good working order.

When you installed the table, what did you do with the sharkskin antenna? Did you just remove it or relocate what was in it?
I have the table and mountain bracket but am at a loss as to what functionality I may lose with the Nav system.
Thanks!
Life has been busy, that is good for business and adventures but bad for making progress on the 200 and thus the old 100 has still been seeing the bulk of the trail duty this past spring and early summer. Then the revolt came. Prep of Monica (the Canguro Racing 200 Series) was already deep under way for the 2017 Baja 1000 and we were starting to work out the details of our chase plan. That plan is a highly orchestrated (and often chaotic) effort of where, who and how 30 people get to Mexico and down the race course adding fuel, performing checks, repairs and swapping drivers/codrivers in and out of the race car along the way. @dmc champions the chase planning and pours countless hours into the logistics effort.

My posse (affectionately know as Chase 3 for the past 5 years) was exhibiting some major push back with another year in the "Ol' 100" they wanted some Fauxverlander action. On top of that the 100 is ready for another set of tires, needed a new battery and some other minor tweaks. I could spend some time on the 100 or hurry and tie up some out the loose 200 ends. Plus I'd rather spend 75+ hours driving in the 200 Series as well. :D

Really, the hitlist was minor and many items in this round of mods could have waited until after Baja. I needed to finalize my Ham radio install, a must for Baja as we rely heavily on car to car comms between chase teams but more importantly the race car and race ops. I needed a way to haul some gear on the rack including a pair of dump cans for fueling the car. What I needed to do was make some progress with my parts stash and this was my excuse.

Table in use during last summers Eclipse in Wyoming

While I was in rack mode, I finally mounted my Eezi-Awn table which slides under the rack in what is otherwise useless space. I've used these tables a bunch with Expeditions7 and XOverland... while I love a tailgate for table space it's been nice to have twice as much accessible table space in under a minute. I tweaked the mounts on the rack to tighten up the table, I loathe rattles and don't like mind it's almost too tight.

Alubox Rack boxes. These ended up functioning quite splendid. We were literally able to put 4 tents in the one and 4 sleeping bags in the other. We could pull into camp, drop the bins and everyone was ready to set camp with just a single bag needing to come out of the back per person. With 4 adults and camping gear things were bound to be crowded but the ability to securely store soft-goods on the roof was key. Eezi-Awn announced their new rack mounts for the Alubox weeks shortly before the trip and I convinced Pablo @ Equipt to put my name on a set. I mounted them up and was instantly in love. Super quick action to secure the Alubox and remove plus they are low enough profile that I can remove one box, stack it on the other and sleep on the roof rack, my air mattress cushions against mount.

No clearance issues for me, 2008 model.

Well, this thread needs some updating :D

The 2008 has been fantastic, still rocking the death out of it, often on recoveries or desert trips with the Canguro crew. We were down in Mexico again last fall in the old beast.

In addition to the Cow-Killer-200, I did pickup an 21HE, still haven't been driving or touched any mods as we've been so slammed at work (regular parts sales and many customer 200 builds on the calendar  )

Kurt, did you get a new tech? Last we talked, your guy was going back to school and builds were subsequently on hold.

We have a single tech here doing the builds and did lose one. So we've not scheduled anything new for quite some time. Most of these 200 builds we have on the calendar are from late 2020 early 2021.

Nice, which color did you get?

Blizzard Pearl
Sick, that’s gonna look great.

Saw you driving your 70 series up to AF canyon a week or two ago btw. I was in my 200 and was going to stop and say hi but I was on a call unfortunately

Adding some pics while I’m on my update kick.

Blizzard Pearl

the best color. I had mine a week before starting the mods. I have to admit it's a little unsettling modifying a vehicle this expensive but every one I have done so far I've been happy with. The BP51 kit Bryce sold me is getting some miles and so far I love the 200 more and more each day. Unfortunately the 55 and 60 aren't getting as much drive time lately, but maybe the novelty will wear off and I'll be back to the regular summer rotation.

It is unsettling, but you also don't worry about a single broken bolt :D

Glad to hear you';re loving the suspension. 200's work so damn well on BP-51's
