As I worked through the paint phase of this project, I knew I wanted to get 3 point belts in the Pig for safety. When I came across someone getting rid of the retractable 3-point belts, I would get them. Somehow, I ended up 3 right side retractable belts. What is up with that?!? Well maybe the left side/driver side belts got used more and thrown out before the passenger side belts?

What ever the reason for ending up with only passenger side retractable belts, one day riderjgs posted up a set of belts for sale that were 3-point, but non-retractable! Interesting, as I did not know these came on our Pigs. I do not have a picture of the date of manufacture tag, but I think the date was reasonably close to the Jan, 1974 manufacture date for my Pig. I don't have a great picture of the entire belt assembly, if there is interest, I will try to take more. Basically, these are an adjustable lap belt with a clasp that allows for a shoulder belt to clip to it. You can wear the lap belt alone and clip the shoulder portion to the 3rd point that mounts above the rear door.

This brings us up to August of 2013 - time for the Rising Sun Rally! http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/showthread.php?t=20116
Usually I have a schedule conflict with the Rally as the one event that I spend a lot of time preparing for every year seems to fall on the Rally date quite often. I spend a lot time swimming, and I favor open water swimming. I am fortunate enough to live near the beautiful Horsetooth Reservoir, located west of Fort Collins, CO. Every year we are able to host an open water 10k swim. This event is unique because the course allows for a point-to-point event, and is at altitude. I swim a lot of cold water in the local lakes to get ready for this. The event is also a fund raiser to prevent substance abuse in the youth of northern CO. Okay, enough about swimming. In 2013, the Rally and the swim were on different weekends, so we could fire up the 55 and go! My son wanted to help me wash the Pig, so I let him hose down the leaky lock out. We had a great time, it was nice to get the Pig out and enjoy with others instead of just working on it by myself.
I think my favorite part of the Rally was getting the pig on a tire swing from Ige! Thanks Ige!

I think that is all for now. I am going to go work on the garage (Bay of Pigs) this Memorial Day.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! It is fun to write about it now, but there were times when it felt like not so much fun. I hope the stories and pictures can help others - there are really some great builds going on right now! I can't wait to see how they progress!
I hear that! There are some days when are absolutely miserable working on the cruiser but as long as you power through the end result can be really satisfying.

Cool! I think they will be a little bit better on the wider 60 series wheel. Look at your contact pattern to see if you get full contact across the width. You can lower pressure to get better contact, but I think that may make it handle a little worse. When I had those bad side winds in Wyoming the Pig felt squirrelly. I wonder if it would have felt better with more pressure in the tires.
I didn't check pressure yet ... but they have alot tires seem ballooned out..will have to lower the pressure to get flat service for tires. ...I want them to wear even after the small donation...i gave for them...
