Big day for the 4.4 project!

First.

I got the shifters set and in the truck. I’ll be adding some sheet metal where I hacked the bump later.

Back to work.

Got the tranny hump holes filled properly.

Just gotta paint it

I wish I still had some Lizard Skin. That stuff is on both sides of the hump and it is so nice and quiet.

I’ll likely put some foam sponge stuff under the shifter area like OEM 60s have when I reinstall.

  • Transmission tunnel - move the holes. Right now a lot of hot air comes in from the gap.
  • Speedo cable. I ordered one, now I need to put it in.
  • Leaky gasket on the back cover, I just ordered a replacement

I got a chance to go through my parts stash and found the adapter to hook up the reverse lights - add that to the list!

Oh yes, we were in and out of 5th many times.

I started out at 5000' and RMNP is at ~7800', going through the Big Thompson canyon. Lots of twists and turns, lots of shifting.

Weds was my birthday, so I took the day off work, slept in, ate cake, and then got after that speedo cable!

It was a pretty good day...
