Spent the morning fixing the 100 brakes then most of the day laying 3 pallets of flag stone

In the end I was able to unpack some goodies from @Cruiser Corps

Mike has been a big part of this build providing me with used parts I needed to get the drivetrain mounted and such.

As I was driving home from Big Bend in my 60 and marveling at how comfortable I had been on the 2500 mile trip I started thinking about how much I hated the bench seat in my Pig.

Mike was on it with the suggestion to get the Beard 55 seat bracket and their “Jeep” seats

Bracket landed today. Seats should be close behind......

Also, they sell pewter paint in a can. I was able to lay a coat on the primed bumper

The small stuff on a build like this completely kill full days. Especially if you’ve never done it before.
1918944

I knocked out some easy stuff.

Plumbed the heater hoses. Cleared the huge dissy. That takes some bending and banging.
1918945

Fuel lines.

Lots of little stuff.

Next up was to fit the air cleaner.

I did not realize all the mounting points were different on the late valve cover versus the 1977.

I monkeyed around with it and made an extension for the front bracket. Aluminum tube with 5/16” hose inside to make it a bit flexible.

1918950

It all lined up pretty good.

1918949

Even got the snorkel plumbed

1918948

I cracked open the Mr Gasket adapter thinking that would be a 5 minute job.

Ha.

Turns out the 77 air cleaner has a smaller throat so I had to modify the smaller hat to fit. I ground down the nub and plugged it.

1918964

Then I tried to put the two pieces together but for some damn reason they don’t fit flush.

I had to grind out the shoulder so these two would fit flush.

1918967

I think I blew an hour or more on this.

In the end I melded them together with silicon on the inside.

Last thing for the day.....

Setting up the Lokar throttle cable and the Lokar bracket.

@under_psi came out and helped me wrap my hands around the mechanics and make a plan

We drilled a hole at about 11:00 on the stock hole to have a nice flat spot to mount the cable to.

1918969

Then we chopped the pedal arm off where it curves into the firewall. After that we drilled out the throttle linkage stud then took the piece we cut off and welded it to the pedal.

1918971

I plugged the hole in the OEM accordion bushing And reinstalled that.

Done. Done for the day. Lots of progress but slow.....

Does the Pig have a return line stock or did you add one as part of the larger tank?

Honestly the only thing that was holding me back from doing the sniper on my grey truck was having to rework the tank to accommodate the fuel pump. Still would need to add a return but that is much less work in comparison.

Tuned in for how well it works!

Looking good. I always hated the 55 bench seat too. It was like sitting on a trampoline.

My 1977 has a return line along the frame. 5/16” hose. They recommend at least 1/4”

JimC noted how to properly T in a return into a non - return tank somewhere in my Project Patina thread.

Not much time to work on it today.

I got home, cracked open my seats.

Added my bumper back on. Holding off on the winch so it’s not in the way.

Finally looked at the Sniper manual. Seems like it’s going to be pretty straight forward

This is a nice little spot for the controller.

Pretty stoked. @USMC22 is coming up tomorrow am and we are going to dig in.

Loving this. I have heard of putting "lipstick on a pig", but this takes the cake!

***Better see this one in Moab.

This really does have the Cop Motor, Cop Suspension, Cop Transmission, and now Cop Seats. $100 says 'Ole Blue is getting kicked to the curb for future road trips.

Only a maniac would spend $15,000 on a $1500 truck......

Next up, I got the seat bracket installed and the Corbeau seats installed.

They are super comfy but I got the suspension seats instead of the “Jeep” style I thought I was ordering. These seats are tall on the sides so you have to get up and over the sides.

I’ll get used to them. Not worth the money I would have to spend to return them to fix it.

All good. I’ll order a console for it tonight.
