Nice FJ Fort Knox, are those Trxus Mud Terrains? If so, how do they perform? P.S. Dig the 8-track

Here's mine, drive it almost everyday. Wife loves that I constantly volunteer to run errands :D

Toy from Brazil

Hello folks

My name is Gustavo and I live in Brazil.

The question is - Here in Brazil, we have the Toyota Bandeirante and it´s look like almost the same thing as the FJ 40. Toyota produced it here until 2001 and they are vet popular here.

Mine have 33" 12.5 BG MUD tires, 5 speed, power wheels, cold air, turbo + intercooler, Mercedes Benz OM 364 Engine (diesel) and others things.

I have one of these Bandeirante, and I would like to put a better then stock suspension on my car. I wanna more suspension travel , because the original suspension is very hard and don´t open too much on the trail. Remember we don´t have options here like Old man emu or Skyjacker....

I think the suspension of Bandeirante and FJ 40 is the same thing, they are very similar on the visual aspect. Maybe the springs is more lilte, but I think it´s possible to change some things to fit my toy

Thanks and sorry my poor english! :o

Your English is just fine. And a lot better than my Portuguese...

That's a very noce rig! I envy you guys down south being able to buy those.

I wish I could help with your suspension questions, but I don't have any experience with the Bandeirante. Have you tried emailing ARB (Old Man Emu) They will probably have someone who can tell you if the suspension is the same or the modifications necessary to make it work if it's possible.

Hey Ed - Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks! Yep, those are TrXus M/T's. I love 'em. They're relatively quiet on the road, but they really perform well in the dirt. I liked them so much that I went w/ the same tire (in 35x12.50x15 size) on the 4Runner.

I went w/ the 8-track for a bit of nostalgia, and b/c people don't generally steal 8-track players out of open topped trucks. Of course, I also wired it up so that I can plug in my iPod. :D

Gusman welcome, your truck is very cool. I have been aware of the Toyota Bandeirante produced in Brazil and I have seen some other pics, i like them! They look like a more modern version of the 40. Like if Toyota was to extend the life of the 40 a few more years. The rear fenders look just like my 40 but instead of the weld spots it looks more refined, same with the hardtop. Please start a new thread about your truck and do a Rig of The Week, with more exterior/interior pics.
