I have recently decided to take up trail riding for exercise. So I purchased this entry level unit to get started with.

Have a custom Ti frame on the way. Hopefully it rides as good as it does in my head.

There seems to be more bikers on here than I thought. Post up your bikes. Here are my two:
I do not normally ride with the seat that low, I was riding a little downhill earlier.:D
Manitou black fork, LX shifters and front deraileur, XT rear, Bontrager wheels and hubs(hoping to get a new set soon), Hayes 9 brakes.

Picked up a trek fuel ex7 just as covid was going crazy. Guess I got a bicycle just in time!
I hear they are hard/impossible to come by right now.

Added another touring bike to the fleet last week, and apparently just in time.

I have been a road junkie for most of my adult life, but always preferred the touring geometry. My buddies and I have started heading back into the mountains for some more serious climbing/ training, and I discovered on a long decent a few weeks ago that I was getting tingling and numbness through my wrists from working the rim brakes. Not good for someone who makes his living with his hands. 😥

I’d been chatting with @Kofoed about picking up something new for a couple of months; now I just moved disc brakes up to the top of the spec sheet. With all the focus on full road racers and MTBs, touring bikes with discs are not a wildly popular sub-species. Surly quickly rose to the top of the heep, but their best offering only came in a horrid pea green color. I wrote them to ask when they were planning their next color change! They actually replied: no target date.

Hearing all the stories about wiped out inventory, I was shocked to see that REI had this CO OP in an XL available for delivery in 3 days! 30 speed 48/36/26 (as opposed to my true road triple 52/42/32 on the Bianchi) with a 10 speed 11/34 cassette in the rear, pannier racks already installed. I ordered one almost on a dare, expecting a backorder email for all 3 days. Instead, I got an ’its here’ email on time, a week ago Friday.

Sold without pedals, I had actually ordered a spare set of Eggbeaters two months ago, so I threaded those in a week ago when they finally released the bike to me (they insisted on assembling it) I could tell as soon as I walked up to it a longer stem would be needed, so I have one coming.

The rear bag is fittingly a 25 year old Novarra (also REI house brand) from my touring tandem. :)

The ’just in time’ reference earlier?

I discovered the day after I got the new bike, as I was comparing it side by side with my trusty old Bianchi, that the downtube on the Bianchi is no longer straight, and has a pretty substantial dent/divert/buckle in the underside. Now I have to decide if or how I can/will brace the tube. This will be my second major repair, since I already tore the lugged seat tube out of the bottom bracket! You can see the buckle at the bottom of the h.

[edit] After doing a more-thorough analysis, I realized that sentimentality was getting in the way of critical thinking, and I quickly scrapped the bike out before I could change my mind. RIP. Second loss in a month.

And lastly is my Ritchey Timberwolf 27.5. Hardtail. Just picked this up to get into mountain biking and I'll have to say, I'm hooked. It climbs really well and descends pretty damn well for lacking rear suspension.

You’re the only person I’ve “run into” with a Ritchey Timberwolf. I love mine too...
