Not upgrading the rear just the front. Short of doing a 60/9 which is a lot more expensive than $2550.

I have some cost savings over the above but not much, still going to cost me $2000, plus the limited slip, regear, rebuild and RCV's.

So, would merely ditching the LSPV be good for us guys who are barely lifted but have bigger than stock tires?

I have my Tundra to tow with. I will have to do more searching on that. I adjusted mine and it helped, but may consider ditching it. Sorry to hi-jack your thread.

Lifted with front and rear OME heavies ditched both the ABS and LSPV and still towed a 2000lb dual axle trailer without e brakes hooked up with about 1000lbs of surplus stuff, no issues but I wouldn't do it regularly or over any steep grades.

Went up Mormon Immigrant trail today, east out of Sly Park. Snow on the ground about 15 min up the hill going in. Way out there was 2-3" on the ground at the lake. Nonetheless, had a great time. First family trip to the snow with our daughter, and she was awestruck like any 21 month old kid! No stuck, was even churning 2-1/2 to 3 feet of powder blazing a couple trails. Rig worked great, didn't even have to air down. Gonna start teardown tomorrow morning/afternoon for ring and pinion installs, driveline issues to be addressed and t-case gears going in too. Big job ahead, and I'm calling it quits after installing the few more parts I already have in the garage, finishing the spare tire hinge and latch, air compressor install, rock lights, factory power steering pump, and a few other minor things. Going to try and get the front diff armor modified/installed while the housing is empty too.

Been a while, so I'll start with a Happy New Year to all! Had a couple more surgeries since I last posted back in Nov. Anywho, got the 5.29s in and they're great. Had a slight vibration in the read driveshaft after the lift, and it was a little short so I took it in to get re-tubed and new u-joints. The vibration is still there, so I'm on the hunt for a front DC shaft from a mini truck. Always did the trick in the past so I'll go with what I know works. At the time if the lift, I ordered a set if spydertraxx wheel spacers and all was well, for a few months. NEVER used air tools with them and always torqued them properly, but about a month ago I went to take the RF wheel off and two studs snapped, and a third one boogered beyond usable. Soooo, decided the hunt was on for wheels, to eliminate the spacers. Found that pro comp had the "D-window" style steelies in a 17x9, 2.5" backspacing. Set if four, shipped, 500 bucks. No biggie. The peace of mind not having to deal with sub par parts, priceless. That being said, talked to Chance at Califab here in Sacramento, and his buddy CNC's rock rings for 150 in 3/16", 200 for 1/4", so a set of the 1/4" are in hand. I don't want beadlocks for a few reasons, the biggest is driving this rig daily and not wanting to check tire pressure every time I get in the thing. Along with the shallow backspacing, the wheel would be a little more vulnerable to damage, so they're being burned in this week. I did the first one, and it turned out great. My physical condition made it take a couple hours over a few days, and at that rate I'd have them done mid Feb. So I took the other three to Califab and he's melting them in place here's a shot of the one I did. Received my antenna mount from Frank, so the 4' antenna went on, I'll likely get the CB in this weekend. Hopefully. Then there's a bunch of nicknacks to button up, but she's still going strong and a shot from a little boredom drive this afternoon. Cheers!

Looks good. I used to have those wheels on my heavy chevy. Loved them. Thoughts for a quick recovery.

Thanks for the share.
Post some pics up when you get the new rims on.
What backspace rims & spacers do you have on now?
Knowing you have a 13.5 wide tire a 9" rim seems to be a good width for it.

I didn't know hard it was to find the magic BS. I have been on the hunt for a 17x8 with 3.75" BS & at best only have found an off brand with 4" BS. All others have been 4.25 or 4.5". I'm trying my best to avoid spacers also.
Has anyone found a 3.75" BS steel 17"? PM me if you have please.
Wider is better, and for a wider stance I'm willing to cut fenders.
I'm currently at 3.5" BS on 315s. The thought of getting skinnier as I go to taller with 37"s to tuck better would be less stable.

I'm glad your surgeries have gone well & you can walk around & even better, get to go wheelin!

Thanks as well! I really dislike the company, but 4wheelparts can get just about any rim you need. Along with Jose's thread, I'm sure you can find them. Agreed, bubye spacers! I can only imagine a middle of the night flat, in the freeway, and having to deal with the spacers. :bang:

Oh, and these on the rig now are 17x9, 4-1/2 BS. Plain steelies and the spacers are 1-1/2", so the new wheels will stick out another half inch since the new wheels are 2-1/2 backspace.

Are you looking to sell these wheels?

Great to see you back Phildoh, and good to see you doing fab work on your Cruiser..! Take good care of that leg, make sure that surgeon does his job correctly and with your attitude You can get It all back. Positive thoughts for your healing. Good Luck..! :)

How she rides with the 5.29s? Is power back? Better than stock? How bout fuel "economy" with 5.29s n 37s?
Good looking rig.
