Pain in my knee from driving my FJ40

Any body get a pain in the outside of their knee from driving their FJ40. It seems like it might be where the gas pedal is in relationship to the transmission hump is causing my foot to be a little off. I think it could be from that but was wondering if anyone else had the same problem, and if they had a solution.

when I 1st got my fj60 my left ankle would hurt.........now it doesnt

I have it on a slider, but it doesn't really help. I have tried all the way back and all the way forward.

Matthew- I have the same problem. Driving my old 1981 '40 across country was pure agony; cruise control might have helped. A buddy of mine installed some old Volvo seats, and his seems to be a lot more comfortable to drive. I might do the same. Ned

I have Beard Seats. They are very comfortable on the body. I suppose they could be affecting my knee but not sure. I will take a pic of the gas pedal and tranny hump - maybe mine is closer than others.

I too had some pain fron the position of the gas pedal...I solved it by cutting the pedal off and re-welding it to a more foot and ankle friendly position. That made a ton of difference. I'll try to snap a pic of the set up for you later and post it. I can now rest the side of my foot on the hump instead of trying to hold it out in space like before....

absolutely, I have had the same issues, I have hear it referred to as "cruiser knee", I welded a wider piece of metal to the stock pedal and that seemed to help, also on long trips I installed a cruise control which is really nice on flat long roads.

Really though my sciatic usually hurts so bad I don't notice much else.
Back when I got my first FJ40 I installed a motorcycle hand throttle on the column shifter. It had a thumb wheel set screw so you could have "poor mans" cruise control. It was also nice for hill starts.

My ankle bothers me after driving my Ford for prolonged periods of time. I can expect Cruiser-knee, -ankle, and -shin more than likely.

when I started driving my 40 as a DD my elbows hurt real bad. The 80 series power steering maybe me a sissy. But now I can U-turn without even grunting!

I have no pain - sheer fun driving the cruiser

I found a cruise control when I got the truck, but it struck me as hilarious (also turned out it was not connected anymore or never connected) and I removed it

I had the same problem until I installed the kit from Classic Cruiser that lets you put the seat another two inches further back. No more right knee issues.

I have no kneecap in my clutch leg either.
