Got another 'new-used' seat, this one for the passenger side. Not sure what year/make it's out of, was going in a project 79 series at SNLC's shop but didn't work out.

I need to get a new head rest as the old one from my original seat fits like sleeve of wizard. I took the lift-spacers off the passenger side, swapped my sliders in.

Had to pull the seat back off both, remove the upholstery in order to swap the lever that allows a rear passenger to easily fold and slide the seat forward in order to get out of the back through the front door. Might not have been necessary, but did it anyway.

It's not the same as the new driver's seat, but it's better than what I had.

Also got a gift from a co-worker who thought I'd like this shirt...pretty awesome.

Thinking about getting some 17" rims for my 45 and going back to 37's on it as it has 4.88s and the 35s are too small for that gearing.
Tire selection is much better in 17" than 16" wheels.

Test fit the 35s on the Troopy last night, I think I did this once before when I first got the 35s, but that was before I put the lift on the Troopy. It's still a tight fit, may need to pull the front mud flaps off.

The road to the local ski hill was pretty slick a few times this year, my plan is to put studs on the 255s and use them for winter tires and run the 35s in the summer.

Drill new holes in the spring perches to move the axle ahead 7/8”.

Got the second coat of POR15 in and then used up the rest of the Kilmat I had purchased for the doors. One 36ft^2 box did both front doors and most the rear sides.

My trailer light converter box VHB tape failed and the box was laying in the rear quarter.

I made a bracket to mount it the the cabin vent studs.

Drove about a block from my house and all of a sudden, I lost steering...relay rod fell out of the pitman arm. It was completely rusted out after only 4-years.

I walked home, got a mallet and some bailing wire and was able to knock it back in place, wire it up and drive home. A friend gave me an extra 555 rod end for a different model, 60 or 40 can't remember which. I disassembled mine, beat out the rusted internals and rebuilt it (temporary fix to keep the troopy mobile) then ordered up a new kit.

My pitman puller wouldn't get the pitman arm end separated, so I had to make a run to Autozone and 'rent' one from them. Worked like a charm. Not sure I'll keep it though as it's priced 40% above retail elsewhere. I do need to get another puller though as it's a PIA to have to stop in the middle of a project to run to the store. I wasted an hour trying to get mine to work before I gave up and got the rental.

New ones arrived yesterday, only took a couple hours, maybe less to get them swapped out. I made sure to grease them well as the two with zerks come un-greased and my suspicion is I failed to grease the one that rusted out, not 100% sure, but all the other old ones I pulled off still had grease in them and the one that failed was just full of rust.

Just need to paint them now as they come un-painted.

Yeah, lucky it dropped out at a stop sign. I was able to get the truck through the intersection and to the curb so I wasn't blocking traffic. Really surprised it rusted out in just four years. I blame the local ski hill's penchant for mixing road salt into the sand they spread on the road.

I had an almost similar problem. Mine started popping on turns. It had worn out and was 1/2 way cut through. It lasted like 3 years.

Replaced with another 555 but slightly annoyed I had to buy a full set to get the 1 piece.

Same here, annoyed to purchase the whole kit for one part. I kept the one that I 'rebuilt', along with all the other 4-year-old parts of the kit as I replaced everything again. I put them in the box the new stuff came in and put it on the shelf...hope to not need them, but have them if I do.

Since the truck was already on jack stands and the front wheels were off, I figured I might as well address the power steering hose leak I've had for a few months.

I acquired a new-used 80 series high pressure hose and had it on my workbench. Cleaned it up and swapped them. The two are slightly different, 'new' one is a couple inches longer on the pump-side hose. I was able to make it work, it's not the best, but will have to do for now. Not sure what the 'right' hose is for this application as I swapped in the 14BT which has a different pump than this truck had originally.

Nasty old one on the bottom, 'new' one on the top. Guess I didn't get any pics of the routing/install.

Wasted an hour or so going to 4 different parts stores looking for new M16-5/8" copper crush washers and ended up re-using the ones that were on the replacement hose. Need to add those to my next order.

Next thing was to rotate the tires...wait, since I've got the rear wheel off, I might as well look at the parking brake bell crank that keeps hanging up. I just stopped using the parking brake as it would drag/not release and I'd have to crawl under it and give the bell crank a whack.

Cleaned it up a bit and got it working, but need to order a couple of these as well. Probably just do an entire rear brake job. Wonder if the drums are still available? Mine are really rusty.

I got an order of parts today, went to put them away as I'm not quite ready to use them...found the identical parts already on my shelf.

So I've got a brand new windshield gasket and fender seals for sale if anyone needs them. Thought I'd post up in this thread as I know I rarely look in the classifieds.

Digging around on the interweb looking for parts and I may have found what high pressure power steering hose I need. Looked at an FZJ78 LHD diagram as it's got a crank driven pump and the steering box in the same spot.

At $300, I'll pass on ordering it for now, but figured I'd post it up for future reference. Looks like it runs up the frame from the gear box, then down to the pump.

Got new bell cranks from Rock Auto. Figured since I had to pull the drums off, might as well do new brake shoes and drums as well. All available from Rock Auto. Same parts as a FJ62 from same year.

They initially sent me one brake drum and one brake rotor...both boxes had the same part number on the outside. Got a return label for the rotor and a new drum in a day or two.

My shoes weren't too bad, one side was a bit worn from the dragging parking brake due to the bad bell cranks. Excited to have a working parking brake again.

Did you set the preload on the relay rod? I've seen multiple folks install the relay rod end and have it fall out. There is a factory preload that needs to be verified....I wouldn't run it out of the box and assume it is set correctly.

Yes. I think that's where I F'd up last time. I thought I read on the supplier site that they come w/out zerks and pre-greased, think that's just the tie rod ends, not relay rod ends. I checked the new one and no grease, and not set.

I thought I'd make a couple brackets to utilize the longer seat sliders that came on my 'new to me' driver's seat. As with everything it took way longer than I expected, but I'm glad I did it.

My suspicion is that this seat was a passenger seat as I had to build up the side that has the slider adjuster on it. Thought about drilling/grinding the rivets off the old slider and welding it to the new one, but nixed that idea and just used some 1/4" x 1-1/2" flat stock.

Ended up raising the seat about 3/4" and the extra leg room is so nice.

They came on the seat, it's out of a 2018 79 series that was at @SNLC 's shop that truck got an upgrade. This seat is pretty comfortable compared to my old one.
