Speaking of water solutions, I bought one of the slant backed 50L water tanks from Iron Man. In our troop carriers it fits perfectly behind the front seats. I have internal cabinetry that holds it against the seats. If you had nothing back there, or the space behind the seats was filled, you'd have to work on a solution. It would be easy to bend up some straps. It's a great temporary solution which means it's now permanent.

Finally got around to installing my heat duct register. Drew it up in Solidworks and had a friend print it out.

I had bought a couple new interior vents a while back as mine were both broken.

The P.O. had glued/epoxied the vents to the aluminum plates, whatever they used it bonded well. I had to use a chisel and hammer to remove them.

I acquired some old exterior vents with broken studs. I broke one of mine as well when I removed it, I was able to pry one of the studs out of one of the other
donor vents and pound it in place of a broken one.

Printed off a blanking plate for the inside and used my router table to take the inside vent louvers off the donor/repaired exterior vent as they protrude into the stock duct that I removed. Also got some gasket material and made a new gasket for the blanking plate.

Used some tiny screws and hardware to secure the new interior vents and the duct register.

New vent, with my heater plumbed up to it.

Other side just got a new stock duct and exterior/interior louvers.

Nothing was really wrong with the duct except the foam was gone and the exterior gasket was toast.

Got out for a fall camping trip. Went into a spot I've been wanting to go to for years, but it's just a bit too far of a drive for a normal weekend. We were supposed to be on a river trip, but cancelled and decided to do some 'land-rafting' instead.

It was opening weekend for general rifle, so I was a bit worried it'd be overrun with hunters out there, but we got lucky and had the place to ourselves.

The weather turned, so maybe that helped keep some people home. The drive out was a bit greasy, mud was dripping off the vehicle when I was airing back up.

We pulled over to let a couple kids in a lifted Dodge Cummins pulling a side x side go by, two corners later they were blocking the road along with another truck that was coming up the road. I think they were both sharing the middle of the road when they met. Both vehicles were missing the front left wheels, totaled. No one was hurt, but I'm glad I pulled over and let them go by. No pics. I just checked that they were okay, then pulled around them in the ditch and kept on trucking.

Beautiful scenery out there in Idaho I presume. Gotta love the fall. Troopie is looking great.

Do you know the approximate elevation of your campsite ?

Yes, Upper East Fork of the Pahsimeroi, backside of the Lost River Range, near the trailhead to Leatherman, second highest peak in Idaho. Thanks, troopy looks good from 20 ft...

8000 ft. I half expected snow on our second day, but it was just drizzling and a lot warmer than forecast. I didn't even run the diesel heater at night.
Maybe a bit morbid but I woulda had a hard time not laughing at the people who crashed,,,,,

Maybe
Oh, I did... my wife was worried about them, me not-so-much.

Our spoiled dog finally got to get up in the top-bunk, watching us play cards downstairs. He almost was able to jump down to the fridge and down to the bench...pretty sure he'll figure it out soon.

and complete randomness, the sail of the devil boat, the Hawkbill, it was in the shipyard at the same time the boat I was stationed on was in dry dock, back in the early 90s, now its in a city park in BFE Arco, Idaho.

I’ve been to Arco several times and have never seen it…the pup looks like it owns the place and is very happy. 😀

Isn't it strange how some things end up in the most seemingly random places? The question is, is it random or is there a connection.

Our dogs all sleep up top with us as well, and just as you describe it's a series of "steps" to get up/down.

There is a a connection with the nuclear Navy out there in the eastern Idaho desert, not the Hawkbill directly, still weird to see it there. I was stationed in Idaho Falls briefly when I was in training to be a Navy Nuke. Arco boasts being the first city in the world to be powered by nuclear power, and the first navy nuclear submarine prototype is out there 'close' to Arco.

Rickover's Navy spread far and wide.

Arco was the first atomic energy "city"?

When I went out to Atomic City I thought they were making that claim, have you been? That place has a strange vibe like so many other places that people just hang on to and continue to live in.

While on this topic, Fredicksburg TX has a great Pacific theater museum. Seems like a strange place to have it but it's fleet Admiral Nimitz hometown, so that's a connection.

I have not been to Atomic City, at least in recent memory, Butte City, yes. Atomic City is just 30 miles or so from Arco, maybe they both got the same 'first' nuclear power? I know Arco has had the claim up on a marquee forever...as long as I can remember that sign has made the claim.

I visited the first reactor years ago.
They had some nuclear powered jet engines around back.

They were unbelievably big so no one even tried to fit them to a plane.
