Here are some before and after pics on the oil pan lip. You can see the gasket was caked on there pretty badly. I planned to wet sand it by hand but quickly realized I will be working on this until 2020 if I do that. So I used a wire brush on my drill and got everything right off.

Hey folks. I'm looking for an OEM power steering reservoir cap for my truck. Like the one in this photo. I opened my hood this weekend and it was MIA.

I posted a wanted request in the classifieds but I haven't had a response. Please let me know if you know where I can find one. Thanks!

Yes... just searched through my photos for the screen shot of the page from Onur's thread that Fred had sent me and that is the same I found as the new P/N that is necessary for the oil pan bolts.
I am getting close to putting the oil pan back on and after cleaning the bolts off I just noticed that they are 2 different lengths. I can't seem to find anything online that shows which length bolt goes where. Any know how from you guys?

Thanks!

I bought a new oem cap for a 91-92 FJ80 a couple months ago. No issues to report using an 80 series cap.

I’m fairly certain all those oil pan bolts should be identical. I could be wrong though.

I imagine they’re all the same length...
if you follow the prompts on this link you can find the diagrams of everything you’d ever question on the truck. It will have either the same part number or two different ones for those.
TOYOTA | Japan Parts EU
How much a difference is there?

Thanks Felicity! They are out in my storage room for the night so I'll check them out again tomorrow and grab a pic.

OK... after spending some time working on the caked on gasket today on the bottom of the block I started to think.... "I sure do want to do this right and not have to do this again soon!" That gasket was as hard as a rock. I got most of the big chunks off and now need to sand down the rest to smooth it out.

I've found that if I reread threads on the jobs that I am working on while I am doing the job they make more sense every step of the way. I was reading a very old post by @Poser on replacing the oil pan gasket and how much easier it is to do the rear mail seal what the oil pan is off.

I still don't know for sure where the oil lead is coming from. It could be the oil pan gasket or the RMS. So my plan was to start with the oil pan first and then if that didn't do it I would do the RMS.

Now that I am having this feeling of "I don't want to do this oil pan gasket again soon" am I crazy to no do the RMS at the same time? I know that there is always the "while your in there approach" but that could go on forever if I let it. But is this really a case of "while I'm in there" I should do this?

I would love your opinions MUD! Thanks!!

You can’t change the RMS without dropping the transmission. So at this point, it’s not yet a “while I’m in there” job. I would wait until you know for sure that you have a leak, and have a 5-speed transmission ready to swap in before tackling the rear main seal :)

Thanks Ryan! Much appreciated

Finally got a picture of those bolts for my oil pan. You can see the two at the bottom of the picture are slightly longer than the rest. Not sure if this is the cause of the leak or not. But I decided to replace all of them and just ordered some new ones from Toyota parts deal.com.

I don't recall any of the pan bolts being different lengths. The 2 at the bottom are also not tapered like the others so I'm thinking its possibly a previous mix up by the PO. BTW I had a PS Reservoir cap next time you need a miscellaneous part hit me up I have a bunch of stuff I wouldn't mind getting rid of. Buying a whole new set of pan bolts is taking rectalism to a new level :) (Cool Though).

thanks brother! I'll hit you up next time.

I made some more progress on the oil pan today. It is really caked on so it's taken me a while to get it all off. It's all clean except the arches. A little more work and I'll be all set.

I noticed some numbers on the bottom of the block. You can see them in these pictures. Does anyone know what these mean?

I'm ready to torque down my oil pan but I'm seeing conflicting specs on the correct torque. Do you guys know the right torque for the oil pan? Thanks!

53-104 inch pounds per FSM. I go to 100 inch pounds personally.

That gasket will compress, so keep retorquing as you go around the flange. Don’t forget to check the torque again over the next few days as that gasket settles.
