94" Toyota Landcruiser, with a LQ4 LS (6.0) engine/4L80E Transmission. Chopped with custom tray, 4" Radius Snorkel/airbox, 4" lift, 37" Maxxis Trepador tires.

Recently retired and moved to Okinawa, Japan. I imported to Okinawa for the US March 2025, but due to the LS swap (not having the title for the LS, and whatever other rules they havr) the Japanese government will not register the LC without me paying them to tear the enginedown, rebuild, and also paying them for storage while they do it. In the US this LS was street legal and register.

I'm retired, so i have all the time in the world. Sits in driveway under a car cover. I read somewhere that cars imported from Japan over 25 years are exempt from the tariffs.

Just imported another vehicle and paid 12.5% Tariff on it.

10% new blanket tariff plus the original 2.5% tariff. I’ve imported over 30 vehicles from a number of countries over the past few years.

What you “think” is irrelevant as you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about regarding to importing. Which is why you imported a vehicle without even knowing the laws there and why you’re currently sitting on a brick you can’t use.

Evening from Kadena. Awesome looking build. Its probably a pain in the ass, but you might try advertising on base to one of the service members that is PCS'ing soon back to the States. The Navy pays as I'm sure you're aware. Only problem would be getting that US title in their name for the transfer.

Best of luck on the sale, that thing is a steal compared to the rusted, repsrayed, Prados these dealerships are slinging out of the gate.
