I have been looking around town for an oil filter that will fit the '40 for a while now. The parts books in the autoparts stores don't go back to 1976, but I found a Pennzoil book that lists a 1983 Landcruiser oil filter part. The SOR site lists only one oil filter for 3/69 - 4/96, so I'm assuming this Pennzoil filter will fit (part no. PZ-1). Its also only $4. :D

What brand/part no. oil filter do you use on a 1976 2f?

I uses a Wix 51515 on all my cruisers(cept the uzj) Napa Gold is the same filter.

cruisers use the most common filter made, its the same as a Ford truck.

Hastings, wix, napa-gold and carquest are all really good. If you love your cruiser, stay away from the cheap filters.

OEM for me,

15600-41010(big) or 90915-20004(small,less mess)

Say Dan, are those -20004's still available?

I'll add another vote for Napa Gold or Wix 51515, never had any problems and I've been told the same thing by many mechanics.

Yes and no.

They have been discontinued but I still have a private stash ;)

OEM.

My older Cruisers get Napa Golds-51515. I used to put NAPA golds on my 80, but now have gone back to OEM. I have 6 of the 90915-20004's in my stash, but am currently running 15600-41010 on my 80 with no valve rattle. I had heard that you might get the rattle, so I got the big filter as an experiment and no rattle.

Everyone has probably tried different filters and has their favorites.
I've settled on the Purolator Premium Plus.

I believe the Pennzoil filters are Frams in disguise.

I have been using K&N HP-3001 for mine . It does a good job . About 10 bucks but it takes the beating .
