We need a bumper for an 86 4Runner. Wish I knew if it was a simple mod to fit. I'll be in Raleigh this weekend.

Any chance someone has a Good working Toyota trailer taillight converter? I’d prefer to keep the replacement simple versus a new harness.
I’ve got this one you can have just got a little hot. In all seriousness I got a Hopkins replacement but haven’t had the time for install

Is there by chance a part number on the back of the converter?
Sadly they are no long manufactured. But this Hopkins kit I got should be plug and play from everything I read. Some repinning may be necessary depending on your model year there’s a couple of threads on here explaining.

Looks like I’ll probably go that route. But might hold out a little longer before buying it. Might also browse some junk yards for it on another car.
Apparently they are notorious for frying themselves. I’ll let you know how easy or hard the install is on the aftermarket
oh thats lame. but it totally explains why I was going crazy. my directionals worked just fine, never made any changes to my harness. then and one day it goes to hazards on the trailer. I guess hazards is better than nothing, but I want to get it working properly before I tow into canada this summer.. Gonna run the 330 mile trail in new brunswick.

Jay, The locked axles are worth around $500 each. I've seen them for more and I've seen them for less, but $1000 / set seems to be the going rate. Bonus bucks apply if they have had a fresh knuckle rebuild and/or regeared.
Why you giving up on it?
I'd rather not see someone give up on their 80 but if that's what's going to happen I might be interested.
