Your truck is looking fantastic, and I love that color you chose. The floor lining you used really matches the paint well. If it weren't for the texture, you probably couldn't even tell the difference.

Putting that tub back on the frame had to be an awesome feeling of accomplishment for you. Keep up the great work and keep the pics coming.

Thanks for the compliment. I did it the route i did so that you would not be able to really tell until you get close, and it is protected better.

And yes it was a great feeling to put the cab back on.

Thanks. I missed this before. Xlnt job, canuck. Looks like it's turning out really sharp. Keep the pics coming and the motivation factor high.

Where has this thread been? Great build! Nice paint... clean... your killing me with jelousy.

Sorry guys it should of been over here before . I had it in my local NC page, as it was only going to be a partial rebuild. But alas once i started on it , it turned out that it needed alot more help and so it began the entire rebuild process. I will say though if it was not for Matt and some others i do not think i would have gone as far as i have. So thanks is due for all of the others that have done this on here before me to motivate me to do this on here.

I hope your neighbors visit and compliment your righteous resto job - looks great! I find that some 'driveway projects' attract attention. Depends on your neighborhood, I suppose.

2 of my good neighbors are deployed right now to the sand box. They are the only ones that are really interested in it. Talking about that, I went to the dealership the other day and and told the old boy there what i was working on and he told me he had been working for Toyota since 1981 and had never seen one in person, and to bring mine by so he could see it. I guess going to all these third world countries has been good to me, able to see all sorts of vehicles, just most of the time never have a camera handy, just a weapon.

Today i got my rims clear coated and found tubes for my tires. I will be running 32x9.50x16's Swampers. They were a gift from some OGA's, for working on their trucks in the sand.

I think they look alot darker now.

I can tell you from experience that you will be a one man car show when you pull in with that truck. Beautiful job so far. Love the color...matches my 40! :D

I'm with Mikesta - I have not seen this thread yet. AWESOME job.

More pictures please!

Did you take any pics of the body work? Looks like you have mastered that new mig welder pretty well.

Just read back through this a bit, since I have been out for a bit. You mentioned not using your spare carrier in your truck because it wouldn't hold a 35. Would you be interested in selling your spare carrier to me? I have one, but it's bent up so badly, I don't think it can be fixed easily. Here's a pic of what a factory one looks like.

Rutbeer,

Sorry man, but like the rest of this thing that was not worth anything. It is long gone. I had found a pic of a stock one and looked at the fabed up thing i had and was not even close. Mine was made out of all angle.

Not any pics today, was not a fun day. Started on the wiring and did not get too far along. For some reason the PO had 2 light switchs hooked up, along with some other fabbed stuff. Got me an EZ wiring harness but trying to see how the old one worked and going off of it is not going to work. So i am starting from scratch.

Ok, dumb question for someone.

Was there a hazard set up on 11-64 year model trucks.

What i have found in the wiring is the following:

2 light switches
1 of what i think is a wiper switch ( 2 position, on / off maybe )
and of course the turn signal switch on the column.

Wondering why 2 headlight switches myself ?

Anyone help me out here ?

Also, can you put a late model alternator in here with a internal voltage regulator easy, seeing as i am putting in a EZ wiring figured it would be easier.

Thanks

Anyone out there know how hard it would be / what all is involved with putting hazards in this thing ? And is it even worth it ?

You'll need another flasher, and a switch, then just splice into the correct wires...shouldn't be too hard. Or, are you putting in a new harness, like an EZ or Painless? They should have all the wiring and components needed...

Seeing as i am now in the big leagues, IE in the 45 section now with builds like Matts, I guess i better step up the work i am doing and take more pics.

I had started on the wiring and I am now in a hold pattern for that until i get my starter rebuilt and battery and a few other things i need before i can really start hooking things up and testing stuff as i go , so i decided it was too nice of weather outside . I needed to start doing some painting again.

As you can see i have no paint booth so i turn one bay of my garage into one for the time i need it to be.

I have now started on the heater and all the other stuff that will be that color, as you will be able to tell. The following is after one coat of color. This dang base coat clear coat paint is coming out better than my truck body did, in which i used urethane paint.

Enough talking, on to the pics...
