Also on the above pics you can tell alittle bit what the wiring was like on this thing. Thinking about changing out the light switch for a later model one if neither of these work. Also you can see one wire there that is totally bare of coating.

Darin, when I did my 45, I got rid of the stock spare tire carrier too. I ended up using the entire unit from an FJ-60 and after modding, it went right into place. I'm only running 33's though, so no problems size-wise.

I must say, your work is top notch. I am really enjoying watching the build up. Keep up the good work!

Thanks man. Yes i know i have not posted for a bit, but give me a chance here, doing alot of small stuff right now, and the biggest thing , just started a new job this last week. Got to get used to having to work again. Was enjoying the retired life too much the better half said.

Hats off to you. Your thread really gives me inspiration to start on my 45. I was wondering what kind of springs you used and what are you doing for body mounts? Again fantastic job, Mike

Mike. I just used some springs form SOR for the time being. They are a 2 inch lift spring. I am going with some 32x9.50x16 swamper tires on it for the time being. Hopefully soon i will build my cage so i can put my tires together safely.

As for body mounts i am using some aftermarket ones. I had started a thread about them on here before and someone else posted about this kit. Actually 2 kits, as they are made for a 40.

As for an update on this thing i am trying to do some wiring right now, and it is not fun. Had to get the starter and alt rebuilt, got them saturday. Have been doing some honey do list stuff this weekend. We are trying to make the house look decent so incase i find a job in TN soon we can sell this house easier.

Just wanted to say sweet build. Just read this thread from beginning to end. Rims turned out awesome. First pic they looked white and I thought that does not look original and than after gloss look PERFECT. Great work. I now have another thread to follow. Good Luck on the wiring I am sure you will get it figured out. Nice progress so far.

Mna i tell you what. One step forward ten stepps backward on this thing. Was going to try and shoot the underside today with that tintable bedliner stuff, and the gun i have will not fit the container. Its not just a regular type gun either. I have been messing with the dash for the past couple of days trying to get it to look right, think i about have it, will post pics later, going to go get the right gun here shortly.

Going to have to order some new yokes also for the front / rear ends. Put the 4 speed in this thing and would just be about as easy to change the yokes on the ends as it would to do the transfer. I will think about it for a bit though.

Let me know what you all think about what you would change. Heck i posted this build up on here so you all could tell me if you though maybe doing it a different way would be better. I'll be the first to admit i do not know everything there is to know about these things.

Just a quick update here.

After taking a job and quiting it the next week it has been fun around here. So again i am unemployed. Thank goodness for retirement checks.

Anyway, took a bit of a break from the truck for about a week, did some honey do stuff. Got back on it today pretty good. Got the fenders sanded down and then primered. Got to sand them and primer them a few more times but it is comming along. Was going to work on the wiring but came to the conclusion that i need most of my stuff hooked up and in the vehicle, so i am taking a break on that for a bit. Did most of my homework on the wiring though, as in trying to figure out and write down where each and every wire is going to go. So for the next week or so i am going to try and get the fenders, front bib, heater stuff done so i can go back to the fun stuff.

I used the gun that kinda came with the gun, was supposed to buy it but had spent anough money at the shop so i got it for free. Free is always good.

Alright, we are back in action with some pics. Figured you would like that, heck i know i like to be back at it again full force.

Anyway, got the fenders painted with the undercoating on the bottoms yesterday and got the plain paint on the top side today. Also got the front bib done today, with the first coat anyhow. Truck was parked outside and it looked like it is going to start to rain so i had to rearange the garage again real fast and get everything back inside.

Raeson i started back up with the painting again is because i wanted to get the front bib back on with the lights, so when i start back on the wiring again i can start testing it as i am doing it. Hope you can follow this jabber.

A few more. Try not to laugh to hard how i have these thing hanging. Got to make do with what you have. One day i will have a shop like Matts and can do a bit of everything all at the same time and not having to worry about room.

Alot of people would die for a 2 car garage to work with, but i have figured out when i move next it will be at least a 4 car. With one bay being a paint booth, so i do not have to keep moving stuff outside so i can paint like today. I am painting the windshield frame and bib and tailgate right now as i write this stuff. The clouds have just started moving back in and the truck is outside right now in all of its glory. I just hope it holds off for another hour or 2.

You have done a really good job. It is really fun to see a 45 build up from someone that has the same tools and just a garage (although you have more skill). I really enjoy buckroseau's build but I don't have the nice paint booth or shop he does. Nice paint results too for a garage.

I was wondering what paint and undercoating you are using?

Thank you everyone for your viewing of my build up. It is nice knowing that someone might actually gain something from something i am doing, heck i am learning on Matts build up myself. Also a little from Groundup.

On to the latest and greatest.

Have started sanding down my steering wheel, that is a pain, but will turn out better than paint in the long run.

Also have been doing some wet sanding and buffing out on some body panels. A couple of pics are below.

Anyone want to see what i am talking about on the steering wheel ?

I also sand blasted the headlight buckets. This thing had the headlight style with the replaceable filament on the inside, anyone see a reason i can not run the old style headlights in this thing, the style where you have to replace the entire headlight when it blows. The reason i ask , these things have that rubber that goes on the back and it is all gone. The stuff around the replaceable filament.
