You have got the body looking good. I can't wait to see a 45 running around Fayetteville.

Let me know how the POR-15 fuel tank goes. I have my tank out now and I am sure it is full of rust. My dad drilled out the filler neck so he could fit a "regular" gas nozzle in it. I intend to clean it up and leave it that way so I can still get a gas can nozzle in there.
 
If you want to stop by you are more than welcome to. Not needing too much help moving them around the way i got them set up though. Made some high speed roller things for about 20 apiece.But you are more than welcome to come and talk cruiser with.

Excellent work. I have been keeping an eye on your project for awhile now, even though I don't comment much. Be sure to report back on the POR-15 in the gas tank. I have a tank that will need something like that soon.

Alright, finally got the engine parts in today and down to the machine shop. Looks like i will be building an engine this weekend. Anyone want to come watch / help / drink / just bs for a bit. Anyone down here in the Fayetteville area is more than welcome to come on over, just give me a shout before, or anyone else that is close by. Heck i might learn something for ya'll.
 
Be sure to take some pics so I have something to look at on Monday!!! :) I look fwd to seeing this thing turn out.

Any idea how I can convince the wife I need a 45 pickup?
 
I was looking for mine for about 10 years now. The funny part about this one is , it was on ebay and i had a set price i was going to and in the last 3 minutes someone else outbid me and she told me to wait and at 30 seconds outbid him by 25 dollars. She actually told me to bid on this thing. I got it for 200 more than i wanted to spend but i think it was worth it, and so does she.

Also whenever you want to talk bumpers let me know and we can probably work something out for you, which would be good for both.
 
Hey also what do you guys think of putting a spare tire carrier out of an 60 series under this thing. Not using mine, won't hold a 35. And there was not really one under here.

I would love to come by and help/learn since I will surely be asking you for help in the near future as I rebuild mine.

Did you order the parts or get the machine shop to source them?
 
I had to get the parts myself, they said they could go back to about 1970 for parts maybe but anything past that they could not get. And i mean everything, bearings,pistons, the whole 9 yards.
 
Well, as luck would have it, the engine will not be ready to be picked up till monday afternoon. Go figure.

But got one gallon of the paint and am going to try and spray the underside of the bed this weekend, then after it sits for a spell i can turn it back over and paint the outside / inside of the bed and see how this all is going to look.
 
I'm going to wait and see how this weather is going to be. I do not want to shoot the paint if it is going to be really humid and raining. Might just work on the other body panels this weekend.

Your more than welcome to come by and chat and look though.
 
Again not too much going on with this thing besides more body work. Was going to try and shoot this thing this weekend but the humidity was just a tad too high for my likin.

Anyhow, just got back from the machine shop, had to take cam down there to make sure cam bearings were good. I will post pic's tomorrow of the pistons, boy were those things shot. Whoever the PO had build this thing, i think they did a junk yard rebuild myself, if even that.

All goes well, should have motor back tomorrow to start building it and setting the drivetrian together in the next few days. Keeping my fingers crossed.
 
Ya, I've got some upgrades to this thing going on. It's just hard to take pics and work at the same time. Will get some pics on here this afternoon.

Here is a little update for now.

Finally got the engine all built and set in the frame. Went to start putting in the 4 speed and figured out had ordered the wrong clutch hub for it. Got another one on its way from the stealership hopefully coming in today. Have been doing some other stuff until then, as in bodywork again.

Have been trying to make up my mind on some things though. Have thought about putting the tintable liner on the underside of the cab / bed ,and the inside of the cab / bed to seal it a little better and to make it where i can use this thing if i needed to.

If i go this route i will be using the stuff like Matt did on his thread, the tintable stuff.

What do you all think ?
 
I think anything that Matt did on his thread would be awesome! Especially on the tinted liner material, when he decribed how it has held up on his 40 in MN winters! I wish the oewner of my fj62 would have put that stuff on back in the day. Rust sucks! But thats also how you get a good deal :)

I feel ya on the taking pictures part, if the wife or someone isnt around then only a few get taken and usually when I have a break. I have been trying to do better myself.

Keep up the good work and at least try and take a pic when you take a break working, etc. :bounce:
 
Well, of course the stealership did not get my part in. They promissed it would be in by thursday. I hope so. Time to go order more parts for this thing, fenders, tranny hump, and some more items.
