So the first person that can identify the smiling driver of this vehicle -- and the first to take this vehicle on the rocks -- gets a free LC America t-shirt. Cheers!

Jim Oostdyk of OK4WD?

I have to admit I based that guess off the name of the picture though.

All --

If there is anyone local to the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania, you can come touch and feel and smell -- I think that was the phrase posted earlier -- the FIRST and ONLY NEW Toyota 70-Series LC79 Land Cruiser in America at the "Night in the Country" event tomorrow afternoon / evening in New Tripoli, PA. Night in the Country sponsors a car cruise, and while we will not be cruising, the truck will be there for all to see. The address is 6493 Route 309, New Tripoli, PA 18066 and the event runs from 4pm to 10pm. It's not exactly Pebble Beach or the New Your Auto Show, but you have to start somewhere I guess, yes? If you attend the event, please post pictures here.

Have fun,

John

DOH! Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Tell me what size t-shirt you need and where you want it sent!

JMLockwood -- Sorry sir, the event is tomorrow, Saturday the 19th of August.

Land Cruiser Phil / Steve Jackson / Beno / Walter Wheeler --

Here is the picture that you were all looking for earlier. Sorry for the delay. For those of you that still remain skeptical, I'm sorry!

v/r,

John

More than 5 hrs notice would have been nice and I would have flown out to PHL and inspected it.

That said, what is OK4WD's role in this?

They aren't Land Cruiser experts at all.

Beno --

Getting the truck late was unexpected and going to the show tomorrow was certainly a last minute decision. As far as OK4WD is concerned, they are a great company that has supported and trusted us from the beginning, and we are simply showing them our gratitude! Just let me know when you want to come out and I will make sure that the vehicle is available for your inspection and that I am available to answer any questions that you may have.

v/r,

John

Thank you John, that is what I wanted to see! Congratulations on your accomplishments. I'm jealous, I'll look you up when I'm in Colorado and
take one for a spin!
Thanks again,
Walter

If I recall correctly, all the LandCruiser "Experts" here said this could not be done at all? That it was impossible? With "experts" like those.....

IIRC, all the experts here were *skeptical* of this being done, and being done *legally* and *legit*, and by a party that was not just out to scam folks (something that *has* been done before by the original Papp that showed up here first....)

I don't see anywhere that anything is yet proven other than one of them actually being on US soil. That's been done before, BTW. (Maybe not the 4-door I guess, but was still a new 79 series). Legally and permanently imported is another thing all-together.

I like what I am seeing, but I am still skeptical.

Would like to see a photo showing the rear of the vehicle to include the license plate. That should tell us which category it is licensed as i.e.: regular, commercial, farm use,---.

Somebody needs to take and post pictures if they they end up at the event. It's a nice looking vehicle.

Forums are to argue on anonymously, that's it.

For the most part. But not so much here.

The folks on this forum, in large part, know each other. Wheel together, hang out together.

I know many...raised my kids around many....my wife knows their wives...we include them on our Christmas card list.

I don't know how a level-headed individual can read this whole thread and draw the conclusion you did.

You are right...I won't be buying one. But there are many who frequent this board who would.

Good job coming on to one of the busiest and close-knit forums on the Internet, flipping everyone off and telling John to take his ball and go home.

I'm a fan of OK4WD (2621 NJ- Route 57, Stewartsville, NJ 08886, (908) 454-6973), and watched yesterday as the store cleared out of customers & employees when everyone crawled all over this truck shown in the pics above. OK4WD is where you go if you want anything 4WD.

I read this whole thread.

A few years ago, I had a wife that borrowed my credit card. I know she did, she asked to borrow it,there were charges on it from her, but when I asked for it back, she told me she gave it back to me already. Ok, no big deal. I looked, nope, I don't have it. When I asked if she could look for it, she told me she was pretty sure she gave it back to me. Nope. This escalated into "I gave you your damn credit card back, I'm positive, I remember when I gave it back to you". Me, thinking maybe I was losing it, ripped the house apart - no credit card. I asked her again, hat in hand, please, dear, can you check again? To which she replied with every 4 letter word in the book, screaming that she knew exactly when she gave it to me, what the weather was like, what was on tv, what I was wearing when she did so, and what we had for dinner that evening, etc. She was POSITIVE, She KNEW she gave it back.

I walk over to her purse and dump it on the floor (anyone who knows women is aware this is a mortal sin) and? There is my credit card.

I'm relieved - I'm not going to make a big deal out of this. She looks at the pile, slowly looks up at me, takes a deep breath, and screams at the top of her voice at me "YOU NEVER LIKED MY MOTHER!!!!!!"

That is what this thread reminds me of. Here are pictures of the vehicle with a well known and well respected business owner driving it at his 4WD business, and now we start questioning the business?

Stop replying, John. Nobody here is buying one of these anyway, and they don't care if you have one or not. Forums are to argue on anonymously, that's it.

I will meet you in New Tripoli today for the show.

You joined mud just to post that? OK! Next time do the right thing and become a contributing vendor instead of the shameless plug.

And another thing, most of the guys commenting on this thread aren't anonymous at all. Many are well known in the Cruiser community and have very informed opinions.

Can we have the VIN number of this truck? Or if someone goes to see it; take a picture of the VIN. Then a simple call to customs and DOT will determine if this truck was legally imported and if approved for road use. Anyone can import one under temporary status or off-road use only. Just remember a states license plate does not mean it was imported legally for road use.

Well after being put in my place, all I can say @InTheKnow is...you never liked my mother! Hats off to you sir. Where do I wire the money?

Still looking forward to seeing this in Colorado Springs, inspecting paperwork and handing over $$$.

Thanks

All --

You have had the VIN for a very long time now:

Exemption Number: 2017-MAY-LD-TEST-I-7421-VIN-JTFBV71J0H7650032

Please check all that you want. You will find that this vehicle was imported legally.

v/r,

John.
