Just an update. Drained both batteries as per vid in post #14. Actually, let them drain a bit longer around 1 - 1.5 hrs. Reattached the vehicle cables to the batteries and nothing. No lights, gauge lights, etc. The aux battery shows 12.5V, and main battery was 12.7V. Really weird. Will charge both batteries up overnight, and see what happens in morning.

Try jump starting it with another car. It worked for me with a similar problem the other day. I just let the other car charge the battery for a few minutes before I tried starting it. I posted my problem the other day with a short video.

Is the pop an audible pop? Or you just lose power?

If you think you have a dead short in the starter maybe try shorting the +ve starter terminal with an old screwdriver, see if the starter turns over.

My shìtbox Ford work hack wouldn't start one morning, I thought it was the battery, dash lights came on, but when turned to start, nothing!
I put a spare battery in it, and same deal.
Turned out the solenoid on the starter was sticking. A few sharp taps on the solenoid with a heavy wrench got it working, and 9-10 months on, no issues

Tried this morning. Same thing. Once you move key to start, there is a pop or more likely a click now that I’m paying more attention, and then all goes dark. Click sounds like it is down by the starter. Since the anti-theft system (aka RS3000) disables the starter circuit, I’m really leaning towards this as the problem. I’ll be following this great write up.

This is the next step after disabling the alarm.

Both are were charged up over night. I think they are not optimal, but both are at 12.9V presently.

Yikes…

Yes, that's it.

This is what mine looked like after removing it.

While I was in there, I also did the Pin 7 Mod and added a CDL switch (Repurposed hazard switch)

Snaking my way following the RS3000 harness. Came across this module attached to the harness. Held in place with the two white tiewraps.

I’m guessing these are the two connectors that interrupt the signal to the starter mentioned. We’ll see. The main RS3000 seems to continue further up into the dash. Hard to see where it goes.

Some weirder $hit is happening. Trying to do a step by step. Still does not start. This is with the RS3000 harness connected to the RS3000 ECU, but with the RS3000 starter interupt connectors not connected to the two factory starter connectors. The two factory connectors are connected to each other. Both batteries connected.

No key, driver door open.

Key in ign, POS #3 (start). All dash lights go out and hear click which is likely starter. Will repeat with the RS3000 module disconnected from the RS3000 harness. Will “reset” by disconnecting both batteries for a few minutes.

Well, no difference with the RS3000 module unplugged from the harness. 😟

No key, driver’s door open.

Got a call into a buddy at the Toyota/Lexus dealer to see if this is something they can tackle and fix. Going to see if I can completely unplug the RS3000 harness from the factory harness.
