Hey guys..

Just a few update pix...went pretty well this afternoon so far. Going to final clean and prime tonight, mount and final paint tomorrow, that is between celebrating the Mrs. B-day also.

Don't understand why she wouldn't want to work on the trailer for her birthday ...how the hell could you pass that up?

I guess I don't get it..

Thank you guys for the compliments..

I don't know Lou...I'd weld for 10 minutes and grind for 3 hours...lol..wth is up with THAT?!

I guess I need welding lessons, the grinding I have down :bang:

All in all very happy though, I did get it primed last night but not painted. I have a little tweak in it I have to try and bend down, but nice and solid. Also added some addtional 2"x 2" to the tongue, so I feel a whole lot better about that too.

Well..I sold the Titan today and I'm picking up a CX-9 at the end of the week. You can only tow #3500 lbs. max..but that's ok..it should be more than enough. I know for ya'll hardcore mudders, I'm headin' in the wrong direction..but that's ok, it gives me a good reason to look for older Jeep or FJ..maybe sumtin' that needs a bit a work...hmmmmmm:hillbilly:

Here's another pic:

Thank you baroudeur73 and especially sseaman for your helpful hints. It's been beyond fun working on this, and very inspirational. I feel a little more confident about some mechanical things I did not know, and a little more apt to try things I never did. As usual you never get very far with out some assistance from some friends. Thank you one and all for the input and help. Looks like the maiden voyage will be the weekend of Oct. 11th up in the Ellenville area. There's a few things left to do, but hopefully a day or two will get me to the finishline. Picking up the new tow rig tomorrow. The Titan's off to Lake George upstate, purchased by a fine young man from that area.:beer::beer:

FRED!! Holy S H I T ! Your still alive....Thank God!!!... lol

Havn't seen you since the tire post..how the hell are ya? I bought that brew..you never showed so ended up drinking the damn 6 pak myself, smashing my finger, smashed my shins on the hitch, but got one hell of a buzz....lol

Anywho..havn't tried to tow it yet, I just picked up the reciever (it takes the 1 1/4" one) today, so I'm hoping to take it for a test ride tomorrow night around the block and see how the new vehicle feels with it behind it. I think I'll throw 3 full water bottles on the front to try and get a realistic feel.

I'm still working on some interior wiring and some foam insulation on the inside. The front rack is fully mounted and I got a coat of black paint on it Sunday...just too many interuptions though. My plans have changed a bit..the weekend HE-Man Woman Haters/ BEER FEST Reunion got moved till one of the last 2 weekends in Oct. I'll keep a slot open for you Fred in case you grow a set a set of stones and want to go :p I'm thinking that Time will come in handy to put some finishing touches on.

Here's the weight rundown
Trailer inc. tent / front rack /battery - 950 lbs.
Gear Water/ Cooler/ Camp Kichen / Chairs/ Tarp - 400 lbs.
Total---1350 lbs

I hope I'm not way over weight, I could wait to get water untill I get to where I'm going. Theres still curve left in the springs loaded, and I have a feeling that this has been loaded with stone to top by the way the original tongue was bent up.

I got a total on the Dough -Re -Me sunk into her to date, and it tips the scales a bit over $3,700 (inc. the tent) I think I may sell it to make an all aluminum model this spring, same design though.
(I'm relly diggin' that hot dog wagon look)

Update Time!!

Test drive went well. I loaded the front rack with water in all the bottles and filled the cooler 1/2 way up with water also. I figured with the battery, water jugs and cooler there was around 350 lbs of tongue weight. The Cx-9 only went down about 1 1/2"...so I was pretty happy about that. It tracked beyond expectations.

Although there wasn't a whole chit load of stuff on the inside of the trailer, I felt confident it would easily handle 300-400 lbs. With all that tongue weight it took some of the jumpyness out of it and (although I never reached highway speeds yet...I'll wait until I get a plate on it to make that test) all in all I'm very pleased
