Also was able to get the homemade shower working today too!

It shot water for a steady 1:15 min./secs. before needing more air. I think it holds about 2 gallons easy. I think you could find these either at a scrap yard or a place that sells fire equipment pretty cheap. I used a dishwasher SS connection line coupled to a sink sprayer. I'm very pleased with it. The plan is to heat it on the stove.

the tongue box looks good, nice find to get that off craigslist, they are usually very expensive.

i wouldn't cut the tongue at all. I do a lot of towing with a lot of different trailer types, the shorter the trailer the harder it is to back up straight. also, you never know when you wind up basically needing to jack-knife the trailer to get out of a tight spot.

That shower is cool. i was going to do something like it with a ss weed sprayer . its only one gallon tho.

make sure and post more step by step stuff, it will be alot easier for me to copy correctly if i don't hafta fill in the blanks.

you seem like my kinda guy very inovative.

;) Just too stubborn or too dumb to know when to stop...most of my inspiration comes from the unlimited talent pool here. These guys are all like McGyver.... they could make a spacecraft from a gutted out LC frame..I'm just hangin back in the stands soaking it all in!!!

yeah i think we've all been known to do what we gotta when we gotta

How are you pressurizing the canister, and and fear of explosion when heating it up from expansion?

How are you pressurizing the canister, and and fear of explosion when heating it up from expansion?

WOAH, very good point. you could put a pressure relief valve on it pretty easily that lets pressure blow off at a pre-determined ..pressure. like 100 psi or so. the valve would also let you know when your water is hot enough.

The plan is to heat it up BEFORE the canister gets pressurized. Once the 2 gallons are up to temp....then I'll put the compressor to it and bring it up to around 40 p.s.i. The canister has been hydrostatically pressure tested and certified to 150psi. (at least according to the tag that was on it).

If you notice on the picture there is an air fill nozzle (similar to a tire) right below the handle. Now...anyone familiar with this type canister knows that YOU have to squeeze the handle to spray. I overcame this by velcroing the handle down, in the open position, and then you can use the sink spray handle as normally would.

The first test I overfilled with water and didn't allow enough "head room" for air pressure, the water pressure dropped quickly long before the water ran out. The second attempt was much better...I only put around 2 gallons in the resulted in a more consistent spray for a longer period of time. I would have no problem to take a shower with 2 gallons of water....and God knows it takes alot of water to get this frame wet....lol

Finished the tongue box...any ideas or reccomendations for the size vent holes to cut in it? Do I need vents? :hmm:

Actually went to the Depot and picked up these 2" dia. plastic vents..so ya think one on each side will do? High on the box vs. low? I don't know where the gas collects coming off the battery i.e. heavier than air?

My guess would be higher up, you might also want to put a little screen behind to keep bugs out.

i would think 1 on each side quartering toward the front of the trailer to get air flow in then one higher up in the back as an out flow? but, Ive never built a battery box

Final outcome..1 set high..1 low on each side....4 total

Thanks guys

PS Didn't put them on the front Sami in case I'm towing in the rain...don't want to fill up the box with mist

yeah not the front of the box, was thinken towards the front of the box but on the side. (i just re read my post i see what you ment not 1 per side but one on eather of the 2 sides when facing the front of the box) but, moot point as it's done already...

looks very clean

like a pro did it.

Thank you Mr. P...purely accidental.....lol

Have a bit of an awning update too. The material has been cut, glued and trimmed to size. They will be 6' wide by about 7' out from the trailer. I'm picking up the aluminum 1" tubing for the frame tomorrow on the way to work.

I'll have to sew the seam yet and sew the tabs to slide the frame into also. I bought 4 adjustable height poles (2 for each side)from Cabela's.

The fly in the aointment right now is the mounting brackets to the top(roof) of the camper. I'm really having a brain fart on this one...guess I'll have to have someone bend me up some 1/8" aluminum plate into 5" x 3" angle :hmm: I'm also trying to maintain about 6'-3" under the awning when it's out straight.

what kinda material did you use for the awning? how will it roll up?

It's called "SunTech"..looks to be same stuff as Sunbrella..nicely made but time will tell. The price was right. I'm just gonna keep guinea pigging this s*** together and you guys can refine and finalize it...:flipoff2:

eBay Motors: Taupe Outdoor Marine Awning Fabric Acrylic Q1 (item 140159730466 end time May-11-09 04:26:37 PDT)

The plan is to glue a 1" round aluminum tubing at the pole end of the fabric, and it just winds up by hand. Then I have to figure out a small crank handle to fit on the threaded rod once its connected and mounted to the trailer. This should all be in the next update.

Awning update!

Got some 1/8" aluminum angle, laid out the brackets to hold the awnings. What a pain in the you know what to cut with just a jigsaw, but it's done. Sanded and cleaned up the edges, and I'm shot tonight.

Have to paint the spare room tomorrow..of course, Murphy's
F:censor: Law..it'll be the nicest day of the year and I'll be trapped inside painting... :bang:

The last picture is the bracket kinda sitting close to where it goes.

Those brackets will look good.

I think you need to lose your paint brush.

Don't feel bad, I was planning on painting my trailer but instead I am working on the deck she wants.

Awning update time..

Finished the PITA paint job for the :princess:....ran to the batcave to ram these things together using the last 2 hours of daylight.

What you're seeing is the finish product minus the poles...I should be able to get these finished up one night after class this week. Heading to the campground this Friday through Monday...woohoo!

The reason the brackets over hang about an inch on the front and back is, I wanted to make the awning the same size as the trailer. So include nuts and washers..thats what you end up with. It's lagged throught he roof into the framing
