Just picked up a new project this weekend will be my first land cruiser project.

Planning to have a local land cruiser guy go over the whole truck, it had a full fluid replacement oil filter starters etc recently.

A few issues I'm going to lean on you experts for, truck seems not as powerful in the 1500-2300 rpm range then really takes off past that when accelerating. Any thoughts on a solution?

Also manual shifter to tranny not the easiest to get into gears seems to have an extra notch or grind point for years of bad shifts between 1st and 3rd area. Want to explore options before rebuilding the whole tranny, anyone had this issue as well.

Can't say lastly because I'm sure there is 100 other things but the AC is not blowing cold, aside from full replacement are land cruiser typical for a recharge frequently, condenser replacement etc.

Interior is a 9/10 original working radio seats great shape

Any help is appreciated for a new owner.

Not much of a project there... It looks incredibly clean and well cared for. Congrats man! If it makes you feel any better, I have an 83 FJ60 and I could describe my shifting the same as you. How many miles do you have on that rig?

Rig has 195k on it. Debating on doing a tranny rebuild keep the 4 speed or just make the switch to h55f.

195k... It's just getting broke in. If you have another daily driver, id leave the 2f in for a while and drive it as is. It really has its own soul. Then, when you tire of it, swap to whatever you want later. But get to know her the at she came from the factory first.

Been awhile... Continuing my build thread.

Parts Ordered:

Aussie Snorkel
OME 3" lift kit
Replacement 70 series mirrors from cruiser outfitters
Wolf Steel Replacement panels
Tuffy Black Center Console
OEM replacement antenna

Work being done:

Decided to pull the plug on the H42/clutch/transfer case rebuild and have it done by a local mechanic in the land cruiser club. @OTRAMM

Wanted this done right to last a light 150k miles so opted to not attemp this myself.

Work to come:

Sand blast and paint entire under carriage
Weld and replace rear rusted quarter panels
Install OME lift kit, snorkel, antenna
Knuckle rebuild
Differential seals
A/c leak repair and recharge
Head Gasket

That's a very nice 60! Can't wait to see the progress

If only
I wanted to drop 22.5k on it and I debated on it even contacted dealer but figured I'd be slightly less than that myself and have a much better stores to tell

Hi, Besides you will learn more about the cruiser doing it yourself. New ARB suspension the best improvement you can make on these trucks in my mind . Look at radiator and cooling really close, if in doubt replace. Mike

Your ride looks very familiar to me for some reason.:)

Good luck with it and whatever you do, don't change the color!

@Breitz6989 if you decide to upgrade the radio and you want to sell the factory one just let me know.

Actually the PO was smart enough to mount a new stereo under rear bench seat wires into speakers as wel as the front stereo wired in so both work and the hidden head unit underneath gives me blue tooth which is nice
