I need that roof top tent

Considering myself lucky to find this ... but had to drive about 15 hours round trip to pick it up and it's now sitting in my garage

Lou,

Was talking to Robbie earlier in the week about future 2UZ possibilities and, based on rudimentary math, determined one could punch out to 1mm over, mill the head, and be high enough in the 4.9L range to call it a 5.0L.

Not a thought or concern for you now, but in 300-400k, maybe a consideration. Haha.

Can't wait to hear the sound clips of the initial startup. Had never heard a Toyota exhaust that sounded good unless completely muffled, until a clip circulated of another of Slee's swaps.

Chris

You would have to tell me that now:):) Seeing as how I've spent all my money on a simple 4.7. At least I'll be pulling a badass trailer..hahaha
I ran a 3 inch stainless pipe through a Magnaflow exhaust and then through a Magnaflow resonator in my 55 and it was a sweet sound. I'm going to start out without the resonator on the 80 and go from there. I figure three days and a few thousand miles back to Va I'll have a good idea

Simple 4.7.....Bahahahaha.

Can't say what a resonator-less 2UZ will sound like, but know that the 1FZ, 1GR, or any early F NEEDS to be muffled to the fullest extent possible, since none have a desirable tone.

In yours, you may need to ask someone outside the casket like interior for opinions, because I doubt you'll hear, anyway.

Anxiously awaiting your review. If you happen to divert south about 600 miles, you know where I am, and be more than happy to line 'me up, for testing purposes, even though my wife continually kicks my arse in her 460, and I'm giving the 1FZ all she's got. Bahaha.

Casually thinking about the third little Pig, being the '71 parts Pig that I can't bear to scrap, and scottryana's to blame for the considered 2UZ direction. Rumor mill circulates that an interface that will bypass the later drivetrain software is in the works, allowing for easier swaps, which would be the pivotal determine factor in nestling into the '71 Shorty.

The engine is in

Got a few pictures from Slee today...and the sweet 2UZ is in... Talking to Christo he's recommending the resonator for better sound. Pickup date has been pushed to March 7th as I had a trip already planned to Vail so it will give me a chance to drive it for a week in CO just in case something comes up..

Picked up the Joy Factory cup holder mount so I could move the Mini from car to car..Came with a Mag Connect holder that's compatible the Apple smart cover..Magnet snaps the holder on the mount and a few turns of the locking mechanism locks it on

Definitely go with the resonator. Slee put a resonator on the 2UZ swap he did on my 80 and it sounds great- throaty tone, audible V8 goodness, but not so loud that it would begin to bother you as you drive the 28 hours back to Virginia!

You are going to love that motor in the 80 series, should have come from the factory like that.

I do know the sound... I ran a resonator on the Ram Jet V8 in my FJ55 ... I heard the combo on a Icon when visited TLC4x4 and was sold on the resonator ....You're the other Louis in Va? Now we have more in common than our names ... Lou

You bet, Lou, but there is only one thread like this one!

Anyway, I keep this truck out in the west most of the time, and drive a s/c'd 100 series here in the east. Next time I have that 80 series on the east coast, I'll pm you for a meet.

Let's do that

Hey Lou,

When you get your truck back what would you think about putting it on a 4wheel dyno? I would really like to see how the 2UZFE does. What kind of loss is seen through the drivetrain etc?

There is a dyno 30 min from Slee's shop :)
