Cool idea on the EQ Lou. I have kind of been out of the car stereo world for about 10 years and when I did the stereo in my 80 this year I was actually kind of disappointed. I bought the 2nd from the highest level of Alpine single din cd players and it has a really poor EQ, can't change the back light color, etc. It does have lots of neat gadgets like iPod connectivity and steering wheel remote, but I think the control of the actual sound quality isn't as good as it used to be.

Trade it in and get the Pioneer Nav, the one I bought last year has all the cool stuff...Bluetooth, Ipod..Backup Camera etc... and I'm getting the new upgrade SD Card at no charge that gives me apps from my Ipod...and it's nice to have Navigation!!

I called John from CDT Audio to discuss imaging and speaker placement.....
Stay tuned I will most likely remove the dash mounted seakers and add either this center stage 2 inch setup or a 2 or 3 inch Mid into a new door pod along side the 6.5. He also said the main tweeters I have mounted on my doors need to be closer to the 6.5 pointing towards the sunroof
I can't tell you how clean and sharp these CDT speakers are ..they have a chrisp deep base and are crystal clear in the mid range...I'm looking forward to hooking up the EQ and changing speaker placment.
I'm going to remove the back panel of the EQ box I made and mount it to the outside of the center counsel... it will make wiring and general access easier....

Well I like the idea, but I am not sure how it would work... If the music has highs that come out of the right speaker that right tweeter mounted on your dash would fire away from you. And alternately when the stereo played left highs you would hear it in your right ear.

I see that it has it's own crossover, how it is wired? Do you run wires from the component crossovers?

As always should be cool to see what you come up with!
 
You wire them in parallel to the front speakers at the amp..the center speaker has its own volume control so you can dial in the imaging... I'm not the expert that's for sure but these guys are so I'll give it a shot.

Phase one of the back up camera completed.... Now the hard part.... running the wire up to the head unit... I really don't want to remove my storage drawers just to run a wire.. Any idea's? Should I run it underneath the truck?

Hmmm Lou, what about; inside the tailgate with the tailgate wire bundle, pull the driver side fit panel for the drawers, popping the plastic cargo panel off, couple of screws on the rear door sills, couple on the front sills and you are up to the dash?
 
How do I remove this vent plate and clock? I tried to pry it but can't figure it out. The plan is to drill a hole through the top of the dash to wire this center speaker... Is there room under that area of the dash... Anybody?

So I never did get that vent off but by removing the head unit and the cup holder I was able to drill a hole and get this front accent fill speaker install. This front accent speaker was the answer to perfect imaging of my speakers.... The crossover has its own volume control so you just dial in how much mid range you want...
I also mounted the clarion equalizer in the glove box and cut out the bottom to make wiring easier... Ran out of time to get it wired.

I finally got tired of smelling oil every time I got out of the Cruiser.... Last time it was on a lift I noticed oil leaking from the area of the rear main and finally brought it in to have it replaced. I placed a call to Onur for the part numbers of everything I needed. I ordered the Rear Main. input Seal, Dip Stick O Ring. Oil level Sensor seal , oil drain plug seal and a couple tubes of FIPG silicone gasket.
This is one time that the benefits of working for a dealership paid off.... employee rate is $45 an hour... There's one tech that does all the heavy work so I gave him my Cruiser and he buttoned it up... We did find that the crank position sensor was also leaking bad and that

Crank position Sensor seal cannot be ordered ..... there's no part number for it... Onur suggested putting a slightly small seal on top of the seal ....a little FIPG and torque it down good. We also sealed the oil pan and rear arch area ..... The cruiser is dry and tight

Onur... thanks again for the parts list and guidance... without it , I would have just ordered the rear seal... I can build just about anything but this job was way above my pay grade and I don't have a lift... Our normal hourly rate is over $100..it might be as high as $120 haven't checked lately..so this was a $600 and change job I was happy to pay for.
