I knew they were bad, but I had no idea they were this bad. Owned it for 7 months. I should have changed them out within the first month.

Yikes! Looks like that front end rebuild may have just moved up the schedule. If the rotor is coming off might as well go all in. OEM rotors are my preference and reasonably priced, don’t want any Chinese garbage on such a heavy pig. I would also inspect the worn side for a possible sticky caliper piston.

Yeah, I already have new rotors and pads ready to be installed. Got the Power Stop kit from RockAuto. They aren't OEM, because this was an unexpected expense. So, I couldn't afford the good stuff. Next time.

And yup. That one side of the caliper is definitely stuck. I borrowed my friend's caliper piston tool. Hopefully, that will work.

I would have gotten far today, but I didn't have that 54mm axle nut socket.

did you check your piston movement? it looks like one or both of the inside pistons are sticking/dragging causing extreme wear on one side.

if they are sticking they will eat the new rotor up as well.

I'll be checking that tomorrow. I hope it isn't. Otherwise, I'm screwed. Already missed two days work because of this.

the calipers can be rebuilt cheaply if the pistons aren't pitted or delaminated already from excessive moisture.

Yeah, I just can't afford more downtime. Fingers crossed tomorrow.

have you put it back togeather yet?

you would have had to push the inside pistons in a good bit further then the outters if you put it back togeather. if you did were they harder to move then the other pistons?

I had to stop when I realized I forgot to get the axle nut socket. I was able to remove the outer nut with a channel grip. But I couldn't get to the inner nut.

Old rotors are still on.

the inner nut should come off almost as easy as the outer. i wonder if the bearing got hot from the heat of the pads rubbing and it is just being a little stubborn.

truthfully i hope everything is A-OK.

My channel grip (I only have one) doesn't reach deep enough to make contact with the inner nut. I'm sure it'll come off easy enough with the socket.

Gotta throw in my 2c here... I got a great deal on a set of Power Stop for my LX470 and put them on when it was time to replace brakes on my truck due to a couple of good reviews on here. They warped very quickly and I have since replaced them with OEM. They developed a horrible shutter that I couldn't stand after a few thousand miles.

I've never had a set of brakes warp on me before on any vehicle. Point being...Power Stop is crap in my eyes. I'd highly suggest getting some OEM stuff. The dealers around here will price match anything you can find online in my experience and in my case of getting my OEM brakes, they even beat the online price!

Thank you for the feedback. I will totally get the OEM stuff after this. Finances was the ultimate factor when choosing these.

I had the exact same experience on my old LX470!

Understood. Just wanted to bring it up because my OEM ended up being only $40-50 more than the power stop setup. Just food for thought.

Cant believe the PO sold you the truck with those brakes!
