My yellow top optima is not holding a charge, its only 2 years old. My charger says its got a dead cell?? What other batteries are out there? I need the same capabilites as the optima. What are you using?

sears platinum Marine.. many threads here....

The size 31 will fit.

What everyone else said. Search will net you plenty of debate about it but SDHP is the clear winner.

My red top was dead after a six month deployment and it was just a year old. My bad for not disconnecting but my Cherokee started after sitting for ten months...still connected. Hear good stuff about the Sears but don't have experience with it.

group 31 sears platinum Marine

Make sure the terminal are arranged correctly. Not sure about the Sears private labels, but the Odyssey is available with the terminals in either orientation.

FWIW, I have an Odyssey PC1700MJT, which I believe is the group 31 everyone is talking about. Terminal are oriented correctly, and it fits. Barely, but it fits. Highly recommended.

The Sears Die Hard Platinum IS the identical battery as the Odyssey. Sears bought the company and rebranded the battery for their Sears brand. Different color, same battery.

Oh and different price. The sears will run you $100 less than its Odyssey equivalent.

Why did you choose yellow top? Isn't it a deep cycle battery? Unless your rig armed with heavy stereo, the red top ought to be a better choice for starting, it is cheaper too.

Anyway, I got sears platinum in mine after the sears gold went bad within a year - had to stay in sears brand for the warranty replacement. It works, kind of expensive though. (not sure the difference between platinum and platinum marine as everyone else suggested).

If you do not have an unconventional mounting application or need a gel cel for any reason, I think the best bang/buck is the Kirkland battery from Costco (SKU# 12865). I have had three Kirklands and one Optima Red Top. The Optima lasted six years in my Cherokee (barely), but so did each of my Kirklands. They have the same warranty (36 mos. 100% replacement/100 mos. pro-rate), but are less than half the price of the Optima. They are rated at 800 CA/640 CCA. At $66, you can't beat 'em. I've got one in each of our cruisers and have been very pleased with the strong starts in cold weather. Group code 35

BTW, FWIW the Kirklands and the Die Hards are made in the same factory as I understand it.

DONT confuse Die Hard with the Die Hard Platinum. The platinum IS an Odyssey. The Gold series may very well be the same Kirkland battery, I dont know.

Both the golds and the Kirkland are NOT AGM batteries as the Platinum/Odyssey are.

I like the top auto zone battery,no.1 consumer reports.

That's because is an Optima! I run a $65.00 Costco on my two Cruisers, one of them came with the FJ60 2 years ago and I don't know how old is it. They both work fine. Before those I have an Optima that had to be replaced twice in a three year period.

I don't know what you all are smoking but the Group 31m would not install correctly in a LX I am building.

Too big for the hold down

Too big to fit properly in the tray

the terminals were on the wrong side

I ended up going with the group 35 for the stock location and the 34m for the second.

X2, but I went with two group 27's.

I have a yellow top too! I don't know if I have a dead cell in mine or not but if I don't drive it for a few days I have to jump it off! It really doesn't like cold mornings either!!!

I know I won't be buying another yellow top that's forsure!!!
