Looks great, Nick ! I like the way you installed the tail-lights into the carrier.

Keith there is tension on the latch when in the closed position but like you said, i wouldn't trust just that to keep it closed. The latch comes with a hole drilled through the body and the latch that you can put a locking pin of some sort in to make sure it stays closed. I plan on using this pin to make sure it doesn't do what happened to you. I'll probably run a locking pin like this:

It looks like this mcmaster carr latch is a double locking latch but I don't know if it has provisions for a locking pin to be used with it. I like the idea of having a failsafe that I know will work, hence the locking pin.

Hope this helps.

I'm slowly putting one together too. Where did you find the latch you used to close the swingouts? Can you give a supplier and part numbers?
Yeah...that was the one that I used for the 62, only the NON locker (I thought it WAS in my defense). Ill be doing a different configuration this time with the single swing. I want the outer end of it to be supported...sort of like your doing with the bushings, only on the far end and I may just use a pin in lieu of the latch altogether.
BTW, I really like the buckets you are doing for the lights. Pretty slick idea!
That can carrier looks HEAVY!![]()
