maybe ARB buttons, but i don't think 10lbs of steel hanging from the ceiling would be a good plan. that and ive only got 8' and 12' of cable to play around with.

Just kidding.....

I don't think particular understands internet sarcasm. ;P

Thats really cool! i like that your lever is out of the way and it doesn't have this huge box connected to it like mine haha. And id really like some pressure lights like yours that remind me that the lockers are engaged, as if id forget hahaha.

im planning on retiring my ammo box center console and replacing it with a smaller tuffy so theres a little more real estate on the trans hump for these two contraptions to live. i wish i could sort of sink them into the floor, but ill settle with cutting small holes in the front of the tuffy to slide them into... think car being parked half in, half out of a garage.

Yeah, i considered doing something to my center console and having it next to my handbrake. but since i have the heater under the ps seat, first thing i did with my (24v)rig was to install a 24-12v transformator and all 12v relays and switches into the raised center console.

so i opted for having it in front of the seat. it makes people wonder why i grab the floor when things get wild, but i dont mind. and since i'm the only one driving, seat adjustment is no issue. i have the seat all the way back. can still move the seat all the way forward, but then it's wierd to pull the locker on.

you should really consider it, i found more pro's than cons! ;)

now, continue!

Maybe I could find a way move the handbrake to in front of the seat? I'll need to take a look at how it's all set up but that would be pretty cool... Unless I ever get pulled over, cops will probably think I'm reaching for a gun. But it's not like I'll ever get a ticket for speeding haha.

You can do it like the old land rovers, have it on the left side of the driver seat

i like that idea, but theres not enough room with the kind of seats i have.

Ditch the hand brake.

this is a great build, lots of cool parts.

Thanks. i got really lucky with the truck and found some really cool new products to try out. Im just really hoping the cable conversion works. Im one of the first to use it, so im hoping the simplicity of it makes it harder to malfunction.
The original locker plan was to sell the front and rear e lockers minus the yukon gears. Then install the Longs, 4.88s, and Aussie in the front axle and Yukon, ARB the rear 80 FF.

But after spending dozens of minutes mathing, i calculated that selling the lockers gearless and buying a new ARB locker and compressor, was a lot more expensive than keeping the e lockers, converting them, then selling the actuators and harness. That and compressors are loud as hell and kind of take the sex appeal out of air lockers.
(I dont count labor costs for the gear swap because there would have been a little barter action going down, which is WAAAAAAY better than dealing with money, since i like saving that for other wasteful things... :princess:)

Onboard air dude thats the way to go. 100 something bucks for a 20lb tank and 50 bucks for a regulator and good to go. I got my tank free and its 8bucks to fill up. Works incredibly well for tires (when my regulator works)

Yeah id love an air tank. I dont really know where id stash it, unless i can mount it to the metal part of the wagon gear side things. It is on the list of things id like to get accomplished soon. Bumming air off people to air up really makes me feel like a drain haha.

A buddy of mine who works for georg made a pretty sweet tank setup out of angle iron that fits between the wheel hump and tailgate at less than a 40 degree angle. Ill see if I can find a picture of it and post it up.

You can always weld or bolt something up to the wagon gear stuff if you are ok with puttin holes in them

Ive been working on beautifying everything in preparation for all the swapping that im gonna be doing in the next few days or weeks... Last weekend i wire wheeled and bed lined the rear 80 axle.

I just need to head over and FIPG the cable locker actuator on, fill with gear oil and were good to go!

Another fun project was using plastidip on the 80 series rims, since thats all the rage in the 100 series section. And it turned out great...

On one flippin wheel.

All the others have HUUUUGE air bubbles under them where it says "16x8" or near the weights..

WTF!!!

So im a little disappointed that the 100 series gods weren't impressed with my plastidipping talents, even though i had a 100 series owner there to sacrifice... i mean help, but thats what i get for trying to be fancy.
And I wasnt expecting this stuff to survive even the first wheeling trip, but cmon, it could have atleast waited until after i took all the poser shots my little heart could handle before it started looking like freddy kruger's face..
Needless to say ill be tearing all this crap off and using real paint on these tomorrow :bang:

But hey, at least I got my Longfield birf (AKA: Robo-dick, Formerly known as: R0B0N3R) today!!!!

Look at that. ready to burst...

Of course, i then saw that Longfield was just acquired by Trailgear... Which sucks because i wanted to upgrade to the full 30 spline front axle kit in the future and now i may have to give my money to TG... Im hopeful that the Bobby's family got a huge amount of $$$ from trail gear. That would be great :)

Looking good, I wish I had your patience and drive to beautify my rig(I've yet to really wash it). i typically don't care what it looks like so long as it can go anywhere and doesn't break.

I understand the function over form way of looking at things, but i figure i only want to do things once (besides those damn rims :bang:), so i might as well do it right and go all out haha. That and te axle housing was rusty so i wanted get rid of all that. 2 birds with one can of paint.. or three haha.

You're completely right in what you're doing. Like I said I wish I had the drive and patience.

Looks sweet, Plastidip is for pansies who don't want to do anything permanent.
