Thanks Danny! Inquiring minds just needed to know Daboise wouldn't get cold in the desert winter.

Getting back to the smell of the dog's feet after removing their booties...My wife read the thread and suggested the smell was not FRITOS but was FREE TOES being out of the booties. Maybe she is right.

Your wife is quite perceptive Roger!!

Well, perhaps 3... But I cut them off... They were interfering with my vision.

Danny,

I think it's the hat.

Catching up on your thread always yields great scenic photography and a few chuckles. This time though I'm left with a bizarre longing for Fritos... various American food products show up here from time to time but I've NEVER seen Fritos. Now I'm hankering... bad.

I used to work for a company that did installation work for Frito Lay. Once I was sitting in a plant managers office and they were scheduling a dental appointment over the phone. She was asking for a very specific date and time for her appointment. They gave her the appointment and then she started writing down their choice of product cartons to bring in to the dental office in appreciation. After hanging up the plant manager looked at me, and before discussing the work situation, said "now that you've heard that, what's your request?" I said Fritos. =)

Anyway, back to tech, did you fab up that compressor bracket yourself? What thickness sheet? Any reinforcement?

Oh come on!! I had just gotten over my Fritos cravings... And here we go again!!

Yeah, the bracket is just a 6" wide sheet of 22ga sheet. There's a 6" long piece of 1" alum angle in the firewall and another across the louvers in the apron. The 22ga spans, from the angle on the firewall to the wheel well, resting on the angle and the well. Suits my needs.

Hopefully those angle brackets came from the hanging shelf in your garage, saving your tall friends a few headaches in the process!

Nope. My garage is designed for us little people.

Tall people should be able to see those 4" white brackets before they slam into them. :bang:

My daughter's boyfriend is 6'7"... He ran into them right away... Apparently tall people look down all the time... Now, when I know tall people are gonna be around, I park 44 close enough to make them go the other way. I didn't realize you were altitude enhanced, but I warned you nonetheless.

Note: my daughter's previous boyfriend was 6'7.5"... I think she's looking for her daddy in every guy she meets.

The garage ceiling is 8'... The shelves are at 6', trimmed to about 5'9"... I work with what I got.

But, it is nice to be able to simply walk under 44 to change the oil.

Back to my new compressor...

I really have no good space for an air tank... I have no desire for an air tank... I don't have lockers... I only need to air up BOSS air bags and tires... I don't want to have to drain a swamp err tank.

So, I was going to build a setup to air up all four tires at once... But, while looking for parts, I stumbled onto this site 2air/4air/6air Tire Inflator - Deflator. This guy builds exactly what I was going to build... So I ordered his 'small' 4air system (for FJ40).

Now, I have no need for an air tank!

Given this exciting development, I changed my wiring for the compressor... I eliminated the fuse and replaced it with a resettable 30amp Bussmann circuit breaker... The circuit breaker will also serve as a switch for the compressor.

The 4air system will allow the equalization of all four tires at 42psi (or whatever), so I can switch it in at the circuit breaker, watch the gauge reach 42psi and switch it off.

My new compressor is a 100% duty cycle, so no more long waits between cycles!

Anyway, I wired up the circuit breaker after it arrived this evening... Here it is... The upper breaker is the 30 amp... The breaker below it is the 150 amp that drives my aux fuse block, for other accessories. I stll need to add a couple of wire ties.

Oh, I forgot... My compressor 'breathes' from the same air cleaner source as my axles and tcase.
