We had a good bit of ice and mud where we ended up. Danny got to put his KM2s to work.
Forgot to post the one pic he actually posed for.
That looks almost like me! All bundled up, except I put my stocking caps away a year ago, and now don't know where I put them for safe keeping.
Danny even has a beard, except mine covers a bit more of my face.

So everyone knows... I didn't know Mark and certainly didn't KNIW I was hiking with a mountain goat... Or bighorn sheep... He's very adept at picking thru the scree and mapping a route out, in his mind... He also trudges uphill like he's going downhill.
Since I didn't know what to expect (and my motto is "be prepared") I carried quite a bit more than I would ordinarily carry on a day hike. That, along with Chester's water, really wore me down...
I know Mark really wanted to summit the mountain we were last on... But a cold front blew in and started spitting snow... And I was exhausted, so I begged him to carry me back to 44.
Then we drove another 28 miles to the campground, at 6600', with frozen snow on the ground. I had planned to drive on out to US93 (14 miles). But, the road east of the campground is a flash flood zone and we had already seen enough muddy spots... So, I turned around and we went back the way we came.
Anyway, I thought I took more pictures than this... But, here they are... I'm sure that's Sasquatch in the first pic!!

It's all a matter of perspective. Amongst the 'city ' hikers I hike with weekly, I AM one of the fastest. With my 'drinkers with a hiking problem ' friends, who are all 50'somethings, I am practically the slowest.
My only real strength is endurance. Another microcosm of life.

I always thought the Fritos smell was from the dog boots, when you remove them.
But, I spoke to my younger daughter last night... She's much more perceptive than me. She says all dogs feet have that Fritos smell... She reminded me that her first Beagle had "Fritos Feet" and he could never even afford shoes.
The smell is simply stronger when the dogs have been wearing shoes for a while.
I love Fritos... I'm just sitting here sniffing Chester's feet...
I'll probably have to walk to the Green Valley Grocer and get some Fritos.Good luck with your search!!
Mmmmm, Frito's! You are making me hungry. I have never noticed any Frito's smell around my dogs. Jasper (male Boxer) has a real bad problem with gas, bad enough to run you out of the room at times. Maybe that it is why I've never noticed a Frito's smell. You are making me hungry. Didn't I just say that? Hmmm, can't remember. I guess I will just have to start walking, only two miles to the closest convenience store. Not sure I remember how to get there. Will I remember how to get back? Oh well, at least I will have something to eat, if I don't forget before I get there. Wait! What was this all about?

Some people keep MREs on hand. I try to keep an emergency bag of Fritos in the office at all times.
I kid you not. I went on a serious backpacking trip across the mountains of Death Valley two years ago and one of the crew had nothing but 3large bags of Fritos, some Power Bars and vitamins for a week long trip. Serious lightweight packer, said he saved stove weight.

I always camp with a propane 2-burner stove, a skillet, cooking spray, salt and corn tortillas...
Spray them, toast them, salt them, break them up and eat them...
Delicious tortilla chips, healthy, low fat and the perfect snack...
Especially after I remove daBoise boots... Then the chips even smell like Fritos!!
I also carry/eat other food too...

My old Viair compressor ( duty cycle about 25% at this point ) is wearing out and I'm tired of dragging it out from under the seat, hooking it up, airing up, letting it cool to the touch and packing it back up. So, today, I started installing my new Viair 380, under the hood, in place of my heater blower.
It will be hardwired, but will not initially have an air tank or a pressure switch... It's 100% duty cycle and all I do is air up... No lockers... Not sure where I can install an air tank... So, I'll wire a switch, next to it, for now...
I reserve the right to add an air tank and a pressure switch, as the need arises.

Depends on the time of year...
In the winter, I roll the driver's window most of the way up and all others all the way up... Then I start the engine... 450* headers... Sometimes I have to roll the driver's window back down and kick out my driver's vent.
In the summer, I roll the windows all the way down, open the kick vents and the side pop-outs... Then I start the engine...
Seriously, I've never needed the heater and it simply took too much of my badly needed storage space. I was going to install a shutoff valve, to keep some heat out of th cab.
Then I thought, the heaters need to be refurbished anyway... Why not take it all out... Happy I did! Bigly happy!
I have it all, if my heirs want to put it back in... But, I never will... It may be all they get.
