Doing the rear disc conversion. Trying to flair some brake lines and it's not working out too well. At all.

We may end up going that route. I bought 25' of line to do the whole system and a flair kit but they're not looking the best.

Other good news, I should be getting the tub back this weekend.

Single flared lines will never hold the hydraulic pressures in a brake system , they must be double flares at the correct matching angle to the fittings and line material. This is safety stuff , no room for hacking it here .

If you are having issues with your tool try the kit from Matco . $60-some dollars , much cheaper and way better than Blue Point or any other kit I've seen. Their kit has a c-frame that indexes itself on-center every time . No more off-center flares that leak or crack. I've had mine now for ten years and loaned it out quite a lot - still works perfect.

Good to know.

The flair kit my buddy had didn't go to a small enough gauge so I bought another and the c-tool never wanted to stay straight. At least with 25' we'll have plenty of practice.

That's the issue almost all of those kits have . As you tighten the c-frame they can walk off-center and ruin the secondary flare . That design is also the reason why they break the little folding dies' tip off . I couldn't believe the difference the Matco's design makes and the quality of the flare it produces. They look as good as factory hydraulic flares and sure don't require overtightening the tube nuts to stop leaks !!!
I hate tools that don't perform ...

Looking good!

So where is this being painted? Do they rent that booth out? Im always looking for a better booth.

And... how much did they charge you for that paint job? Looks sweet...

Getting painted out in Dallas. The guy Bill has a shop called BST Kustoms. Pretty nice set up. I'm pretty sure I remember him saying he rents it out to people. I may head out there tomorrow night to drop off some liner or I think Saturday to pick up the tub and other parts...you're more than welcome to come along.

When Bill came out to look at it he quoted me $1,500. That was with the majority of the parts blasted, a couple things primered, and me supplying the raptor liner for the under carriage and inside the tub. Unfortunately the previous guy before Bill jacked a lot of stuff up while trying to weld and Bill had to fix it all. He took some parts back down to bare metal and fixed the rusted spots, filled in all the holes, etc. It ended up running me another $700 I think. Overall, I think it's a fair price and he does great work.

I'm digging the Toyota blue steel metallic paint.

Standard flare is a single if you to to auto zone and buy a flare tool it only does single yes it has to fit the fitting properly nice double flare kit is some coin. I've been looking at getting one and running all new lines

Thanks!

The tub is finished along with all the other large parts. I'm very happy with the color of paint and how well everything turned out. That raptor liner is some pretty heavy duty stuff.

Going out tomorrow to do some work and may bolt the tub down. I feel like we're finally on the home stretch but you never know.

Heres a pic of my buddies spare bedroom...

Ordered an MSD kit from Jeg's. Should be here Friday. Found some heated leather seats from an Audi TT for sale on craigslist that I may check out. Also need to go to pick a part and find a suitable steering column. Any recommendations?

It's getting there...
