Planning on widening that front axle are we?

Yup, that was quick. It's hard to surprise these guys!!

Wow Johnny....
Moonshine looks awesome. Sorry I missed this thread last month.I had no idea you were coming out west. I would have tried to hook up with you in Moab. Rig looks great too.

Yeah, it was a quick trip out, but I didn't bring Moonshine, so no worries Tom. I'll be heading out that way again next year:D

Thanks for the compliments! She's coming along nicely. I'm spending time fixing all of the little things that will allow me to enjoy her all the more.

I may hit up LBI this summer as my family has a place in beach haven.... Pine barren run?
More than likley flyin out.

I'd be down for a run through the pines. I'll hopefully be in the tuning stage of my truck, getting that suspension dialed in with the weight of the 6BT.

Just gotta let me know when it happens.

I'd be down for an east coast cruiser get-together. I've got a bunch of buddies in the NY metro area, some of which I'm sure would come out to join us.

Johnny the 60 looks great... You make me want to find a straight body for my 60, and that is almost impossible here in the rust belt...

Did you ever measure your Pitbulls to see what the actual size is ? I finally measured my 37x14x15" iroks the other day and was a little disappointed to see they are only 35.5"s tall at 25 psi... I really have not been to happy with the iroks and will probably be shopping for something else in the fall...

Hey the guys i wheel with will be going to W. Virginia in September, if you get your junk together maybe i could sneak you in for the weekend if you are interested... The place where we wheel there is kinda top secret private land, but it is some of the best wheeling i have been around on this side of the mississippi... there are some pics from last fall when we were there in my build thread...

I'm sure there have to be some great places to wheel in NY. Or maybe take a trip out to Raush creek, I haven't been over there yet.

Let me know when you find a decent wheeling spot in NY. I searched, I don't believe it exists. Too many tree huggers up there:hillbilly:

How about this. Plan on making CMCC @ Rausch Creek the second weekend of July. I'm going to do my best to be there:D

Thanks for the compliments Chris!

I hear you about the rust situation. I was able to find a super clean frame for Moonshine in NY, but a clean body is impossible to find, unless its been imported from down south. I moved half way down the coast to get away from the salt and therefore rust free bodies are much easier to find down here:D If you are in the market, let me know and I'll keep an eye out for a clean body for you!

I did measure my pits and was disappointed as well. They measure the same, 35.5" @ 25-30psi. However, despite the lack in height, I love these tires! It was a mistake to run them on the street for so long, but they grip like glue off road. I highly recommend the Pits, despite the price.

I would love to make a trip up to W. Virginia to wheel with you and your crew! I saw the pics and it looks like a sweet spot to give Moonshine a workout. It'd be excellent to wheel with another SOA 60, considering how few and far-between they are on the east coast. Keep me posted on the details and I'll do everything I can to get over there:D

I also have a friend in metro NY. Part of gotham cruiser gang...Id be down for a fall run as the east coast is sick in the fall and not so damn humid either. Im going to put some wheels in motion on this one guys.

No good wheeling in NY? You crazy Johnny, I have 6 private spots on speed dial all within 45 minutes of me!

That doesn't count! I have a private wheeling spot in the Catskills that GCLC uses twice a year, but I don't count it as a 'wheeling spot' unless I can drive up whenever I feel like it, pay a fee, and drive my truck on some sweet rocks.

Rausch Creek is a wheeling spot.
Whispering Pines is a mudding spot.
Moab, UT is a wheeling spot.
My buddy's place in the back country does not count as a wheeling spot for the whole wheeling community.

Next time you are up this way again, give me a call. I have the key to land we lease just south of Watkins Glen.

Will do bro!

Hows the 80 treating you these days?

Well, not a ton to update, but I was able to get some stuff done since I put the new springs on.

Went wheeling with the ONSC guys at Uwharrie last month. There were a couple of good pictures:

Got a couple of dents in the new body. It's about time she was broken in:hillbilly:

Lost a tail light in that pit

In the center of the frame you can see where the panel was pushed in a bit, right above the LC emblem

Caught a boulder under the door ( I need sliders )

In addition to that wheeling update, I did a couple of things to the interior to make me a happy camper. I fixed the horn, and wired a 12V socket to the rear for my fridge and WVO 12v pump:

Need to make an interior quarter panel to mount it.

I also got around to painting my FZJ80 alloys with satin black enamel paint. I was originally going to paint them 033, but they had a bunch of corrosion and some rock rash that would have been exaggerated by white. I think they look pretty good in black;

Finally, I was given this Ramsey 8000lb winch. I was planning on cleaning it up and running it on Moonshine, but after some advice, I'm starting to think that this is too small of a winch to bother with. What does 'Mud say, will an 8k winch be enough for me or should I hold out for something larger?

For the winch a 9K+ is going to be better but with a snatch block I would think the 8K could get the job done. That's my plan since I got an 8K for free too.

I'm still really liking the stance of those pitbulls, Moonshine looks great with those shoes on. You really need protect though. :p

I am running a 8k just cause it was free as well, I am not going to let myself worry about it. When I have no other upgrades to get and come across a good deal I will buy the 10-12k I want.
w/snatch block it will work, may be slow but hell just don't get yourself buried in hood deep mud and you should be all right haha.

Man that thing is a beast! I need to do that to my horn as well, its not working anymore well only when it wants to I guess.
