I wheeled with a guy some years back that had that same winch... It had my 55 hooked to it on several occassions and never had an issue... They are slow, but i never saw it struggle with anything it was ever hooked too...

Yea get some sliders and quarter protection on Moonshine... That nice sheetmetal doesn't need to be beat up just yet....:D

Johnny, that Upol Raptor finally cracked to bare metal it looks like.. Ouch.. It's held up nicely. I am trying magnetman's Monstaliner on my current 60 build. What satin black enamel did you use for the wheels? They turned out really nice.

I was gonna powder coat but, that ain't happening...

For the winch a 9K+ is going to be better but with a snatch block I would think the 8K could get the job done. That's my plan since I got an 8K for free too.

I'm still really liking the stance of those pitbulls, Moonshine looks great with those shoes on. You really need protect though. :p

I was thinking the same thing in terms of winch power. However, $free.99 is my favorite price, so the 8k winch it is!

I agree, armor is necessary and will be coming soon :hillbilly:

Thanks for the compliments Mike! I love the stance as well, low and wide, like it should be.

I am running a 8k just cause it was free as well, I am not going to let myself worry about it. When I have no other upgrades to get and come across a good deal I will buy the 10-12k I want.
w/snatch block it will work, may be slow but hell just don't get yourself buried in hood deep mud and you should be all right haha.

Man that thing is a beast! I need to do that to my horn as well, its not working anymore well only when it wants to I guess.

btw I am going to do that liner, so w/two kits I should have some left over for touch ups since I am not doing the undercarriage you think?

I used two full kits to paint Moonshine white, and 3/4 of a kit to coat the bottom in black. With two kits, you should have enough to do the entire exterior of the body, with a little left over if you are painting with the same / a darker color. I went from champagne to white, so I needed to lay a bunch down to get full coverage.

Thanks for the compliments man!

Good to hear! I don't care if the winch is slow because I don't intend to use it often:D As long as it works when I need it, I'll be happy.

She needed a few dents for me to call her my own, but I agree, armor is necessary. I've got a plan, I just need to burn some steel.:smokin:

Where are you looking? The raptor liner did not crack underneath the door, nor did it crack on the PS rear quarter. The black portion of the liner actually curled up with the steel, which I admit, I did not expect to happen. I can get some closer shots of it tomorrow if you'd like.

There are bare spots now, yes, under the door, but that's because I was resting the truck on a boulder at that exact spot. The rear quarter had some liner rub off, but not all the way down to the metal. That happened in the pit and I slid the body on the side of the pit for a solid 5'. I know it doesn't look that deep, but look at the DS suspension, it's completely decompressed. All of the weight is on the PS suspension and on the PS rear quarter panel.

If you show me a coating that will withstand that kind of abuse without coming off, I'll buy stock, lots of it;)

The raptor liner is doing pretty damn well if you ask me:cool:

Hell yeah man... Sweet ride.

Thanks Zach! I'm still playing catch up to builds like your's and Mike's:cheers:

Johnny, yes, looked like under the door was missing some Upol. Nonetheless, it has served its purpose and then some from what I can see.

Agreed, it has served its purpose. Let's put it this way, I couldn't ask any more of it :D

To answer your other question, I used a Valspar Enamel implement paint from Tractor Supply. I've had nothing but good luck with the spray paint they sell for tractor parts. I painted my grill and headlight doors in 09 with their grey enamel paint and it has held up beautifully. I painted my front bumper with their black enamel in 09 as well and it has done very well, except where it met boulders, which is to be expected.

Now, the Monstaliner. Are you planning on painting the whole truck with it or just the lower body line?

Johnny, Just the lower body line. My build thread has a pic of a cruiser I am gonna copy..

I've heard the Valspar paints are very strong. I only get around a Tractor Supply about once every two months. I'll look to see if I can get it online.

Sweet, I just subscribed to your thread. She's going to look awesome when done!

I couldn't find the paint I used on TSC's website. Here is a picture of what I used to help your search

Cool, good progress :-P
Can't see any images on this phone, but I'm using my imagination :
Sweet, looking goood!
I'm working on my sliders right now, just finished them on the Hilux.
Slow job alone, especially since i messed up my order and got them too short.

Sent using IH8MUD app.

Since early June, I have done absolutely nothing to Moonshine.

I failed the NC state inspection because I don't have an emission system anymore. I didn't need it in NY, but in NC, it's necessary as part of the 'tampering inspection' that comes along with the safety inspection.

Today I purchased a 1200w continuous inverter that will power my computer and whatnot while on the road. I think I'm going to mount it in the center console. It should be protected and take up some of the space in that cavern.

I have spent the last month and a half planning out the next set of upgrades. I've got some pretty significant changes coming up, with the real updates starting next week. Get stoked :bounce:

Nice little inverter Johnny. Let me know how it works out for you. I'm about to start collecting more items for the trailer build.

Can't wait to see the new upgrades.... Can I expect to see any WagonGear items?

J

Will do!

Yes, you can expect some WagonGear shwag:D

You get that diesel you've always wanted?

Maybe, but it's tough to know for sure. It's not a 6BT, I can say that for sure :D

That's too bad.:grinpimp:
It seems like the 6BT is becoming pretty popular to swap into the 60 series wagons.

Any diesel would be pretty sweet though. I just got mine fired up for the first time in the cruiser yesterday and I have to say I am pretty pumped to get my swap finished.

I'm excited to see your truck up and running as well! When is that video going to be up?

What pump your run for wvo? I havnt found a good 12v one that doesn't cost a fortune or have a low duty cycle. 120V ones work great, but need a good sized inverter (speaking of which let us know how you like you hf inverter I am due for one soon) and my trash pump is even better but its loud, blah. I have found that dipping barrels is the fastest method next to the trash pump.
